Kamala Harris calls for no taxes on tips at Las Vegas rally
Copied President Trump
The reason why it is a great idea to not tax tips is because the restaurant and hospitality industry is really getting hammered on all fronts - especially inflation.
Eliminating the tax on tips will help float an entire industry, not just help individuals.
I worked at a country club for many years. The members didn’t tip money, it was automatic on their bills. Those tips were spread out among all the bartenders, waiters/waitresses, busboys working that shift. So they amounted to almost nothing. Then we were taxed for tips on our paltry income. If you tried to survive on that you were screwed. If it wasn’t for the parties we had every weekend we would have made almost nothing.
I would never have worked for tip pooling. Not at the wage they paid us. Bartenders, busboys, hostesses, etc earned more than wait staff.
There were a lot of people who stiffed. I caught one guy taking my tip off the table and putting it in his pocket. I called him out on it. Of course they stiffed me.
Then, there was welfare weekend. Those people came in, rang up a bill of a hundred dollars (a lot back then) and always stiffed. No one wanted to work that weekend.
It’s really important that when you leave a tip, leave cash, there’s no record.
He was going to raise the taxes 20%, then only raised it 15%, so he cut his tax raise 5% ..........dem logic
I was the bartender/bar manager. We didn’t pool our tips when we had parties. We kept our individual tips. Only thing that made the job worthwhile. The waiters/waitresses pooled theirs.
It’ll be the “second gentleman” in a designer gown.
Democrats have thrived on plagiarism and unfulfilled promises for decades.
When they latch on to a good sounding idea that brings in the sucker vote they just keep promising it every election and the suckers keep voting for them every election.
WSJ——Harris in 2017 was the first senator to co-sponsor Bernie Sanders’s Medicare for all plan,
<><>in 2019 she vowed in a primary town hall to eliminate private insurance.
<><>She then backtracked on that threat, then readopted it in a Democratic debate,
<><>then backtracked again, issuing a hybrid approach (which helped blow up her campaign).
Where is Ms. Harris now? Campaign officials vaguely explain that she no longer supports single payer. Which means—what exactly? Would she, as promised in 2019,
<><>let private insurers cover the “very little” that is “not otherwise covered” by Medicare
<><>“because almost everything will be covered” by Harris’ government?
<><>Would she lower the Medicare age to 30?
<><>Pour money into the status quo?
<><>at this point even Harris doesnt know,
<><>It all depends on what Trump does.
Do I smell desperation already?
NO IDEAS OF HER OWN SHE STEALS TRUMPS.
Harris Steals Trump Tax Proposal Eliminating Taxes on Tips

“It is my promise to everyone here when I am president we will continue to fight for working families, ***including to raise the minimum wage*** and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris said.
After Nevada, Harris traveled to San Francisco in her home state of California, where she is slated to attend a fundraiser on Sunday with former House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi. ***Nearly 700 people are expected at that event, which is expected to raise more than $12 million, a campaign official said.***
Another piece of dem logic: Lie your ass off.
It's not as clearly defined as you make it sound.
If you left something other than money as a tip, would you still consider it "income?"
Oh give me a break with reasoning like that. You hire a handy man to do some work for you. You pay them cash for that work and you claim that makes that money a gift because you didn’t have a written contract. What reality do you live in.
First of all, I never said anything about a WRITTEN contract. If the handyman charges you $250 for a project, you have a binding agreement (in most states, I am sure) for $250. If you pay him $275, how exactly is the extra $25 documented on a financial statement?
And how does this change if you give him $250 plus a case of beer?
I’m not sure what you mean - does the ‘tip’ way or the other way, stifle service?
The ‘tip’ way of doing things relies on BOTH SIDES doing right.
Some people are really stingy, and never tip; and others tip as little as possible, regardless of the level of service. I’ve been out with this sort, and it’s embarrassing as hell - everybody else just chucks in more, to make up for the stingy ones’ failure and lack of ‘class’.
In a situation like that, a waiter or waitress could go above and beyond, and still get treated poorly.
(In countries where tipping is not generally a custom, it is still permitted, and appreciated, when you want to show appreciation for the staff excelling.)
Yes I know. I was just replying why now! What’s changed other than everything Harris says! Sorry, I meant to be kind of sarcastic over Chameleon Kamala ever changing positions of late! ha! ;)
It sounds like you’re against tip staff getting any sort of tax break that you’re not getting. That’s pry how it feels when homeowners get a mortgage interest break on their tax return that renters can’t claim. Life isn’t fair sometimes.
Yes…it’s called having some skin in the game! More effort! More striving to achieve….Merit vs. Entitlement… on any side.
Trump likes to talk, he rambles at times. If anyone from his team every read what is being said on FR, I may have a fix for them
From someone who finds politicians boring, so I do not watch speeches or debates. It is easy to see the problem. Trump does hit on policy, but it gets lost in drone of his off the cuff banter.
ON THE JUMBOTRON immediately prior to Trump coming out, (always late, so use it as a 15 minute warning), run a good 15-20 minute montage of Trump laying out his vision for America. Contrast what he wants for America to what the RATS want. Make it entertaining, riveting to people watching at the rally AND ON TV. Make it show the real affects of the drug epidemic, make it patriotic, describe bringing manufacturing jobs back, oil drilling, etc.. Trump then comes out, hits some policy high points, and then he can wing the rest if he wants. Next presser, Trump needs to speak as if he is giving a State of the Union speech. Press only wants a stupid comment to run with, they don’t want substance.
I liked Atlanta, Presser was 50/50, (policies plans lost in ad hominem comments). Montana frankly sucked, I got bored and shut it off. In the media Trump is only as good as his last rally. The banter may play well at rallies, but not on TV. He had better be more disciplined at the debate, he attacks Harris personally and he will lose. He attacks her policies and accomplishments and he wins.
