Hurricane Debby made landfall near Steinhatchee, Florida in the Florida Big Bend. While moving inland, Debby was downgraded to a Tropical Storm. The storm is expected to bring major flooding to the Southeastern U.S. over the next several days as the storm slows to a crawl.

Most of those tornadoes are F0 on the Fujita Scale, and very short-lived as you noted. Still, it doesn’t allow for much sleep when those twisters are popping off one after another, along with the weather alert sirens.

Oh boy, this is governor type problem.
In the fwiw department we got 12” of rain.
Needed an airboat, john boat or a APC to get around.

It will be interesting to learn whether the Lakewood Ranch residents knew they were in a flood plain for Lake Manatee when they bought their property. Otherwise, several Lakewood Ranch residents are impressively snobbish. They paid extra for the privilege of buying into the community east of I-75.
We had 10.3” in the home rain gauge.
Only way to look at it is it could have been far worse.
Flooding like we had from Floyd? YIKES! Our property was “OK”....ground VERY mushy and lots of ankle/calf high standing water all over, quite a few big old trees down [we have 12 1/2 acres]. But our biggest problem is we could not get out anywhere for just under 2 weeks. Every single road around us was either washed out or under lots of water. I hope and pray Debby is not gonna be as devastating as Floyd was to our area.
It was so heartbreaking to see so many who lost everything along with all the livestock that was lost.
NautiNurse, thanks for all you do keeping us informed with these threads. I very much appreciate it, as I am sure others do also. These threads are my “go to” for hurricane info!
Please keep up posted with local updates when you are able. Debby is pretty much stalled for another day. Down East NC appears to be getting plenty of weather.
Wow, that's incredible. I didn't even know there was a Manatee Dam. (My in-laws lived in Manatee County back in the 1990s.)
I feel bad for the Lakewood Ranch residents. They didn't ask for this!
Who would want to live there? I believe I remember you said that area is full of MANY types of annoying bugs... far worse than west of I-75.
We took a drive around Lakewood Ranch years ago during one of our March trips to Florida. We weren't impressed. Unless maybe we missed something?
We should get a rain guage here. I know our area got about 13” as of 11 pm last night per the local news. Been raining pretty hard all day today.

It will take some time to learn whether the residents knew they were in the Lake Manatee flood plain when they purchased their property.
I recall 20+/- years ago there was a threat to the dam integrity when one of the gates was stuck. It made national news with choppers flying over, waiting for the dam to break and cause a disaster.
Yes, I'm learning that. By weather alert sirens, do you mean those coming from a town, or the alerts sent out to our phones? No 'weather horns' here (that I know of), but I got that loud, blaring (scary) alert on my phone at least two times over the past several days. Mainly warning us about flash flooding and not to drive on flooded roads.
Hubby did not get that loud alarm on his new iPhone, not sure why.
Good to know those are F0. I've seen several F1 tornadoes do a fair amount of damage in Connecticut and western Massachusetts though.

LOL! Yes, I have said it. They don't get the coastal breezes that far inland.
Town sirens aren’t needed anymore with cell phone warnings. Your hubby hasn’t turned on the alerts for his new phone.
Yeah, those loud, blaring cell phone alerts are scary...
Yes, that's right, too. Have to admit, we don't get quite as much of the coastal breezes as Hilton Head Island gets. But we get more than further inland I suppose.
