Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin revoked the plea agreements for the 9/11 terrorist attack mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two others and relieved the official in charge of military courts in Guantanamo Bay.
The move puts the possibility of the death penalty back on the table for the trio. It was announced in a memorandum on Friday.
On Wednesday, the Department of Defense reached a plea deal with Mohammed, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, and Ramzi Bin al Shibh, three men accused of planning the attacks. The details of the deal weren't made public.

Besides mispronouncing her name the past four years, he's also addressed her as President in the past. At the recent NATO Summit, he called her Vice-President Trump. From what I understand, she answers to just about anything.
“Fired? Not sure of that claim.
All we know is she was relieved of her position. She may get reassigned somewhere else.”

When a senior commander is relieved by the Secretary of Defense, with their most recent orders countermanded, there isn’t any place to hide. It will take some time to process out, but out is where the former commander is headed.
“this trash should have been executed by W Bush!!!!!”
But he said it’s a religion of peace.
If he did put this deal together, then the Biden Administration gave tacit approval, This didn’t happen as an independent move. Austin reversed this deal because the higher ups suddenly realized this move looked awful and would give Trump ammunition to use against Harris.
When they suddenly reverse course and take some actions that are actually sane because of an approaching election, it proves two things: 1) They know their political agenda is evil, and 2) They know that the majority of people want nothing to do with it.
Certainly puts the lie to their sanctimonious “defending democracy” shtick.
A good friend of mine a full Bird Colonel, now retired, knew General Austin before he was in his present position. He described him as a "good honest patriot" This was many years ago before Austin was in his present position. My friend expressed a bit of bewilderment about what General Austin is today.
Mark…
This clearly demonstrates that no one knows who’s in charge. People are freelancing because there’s no one at the top making the decisions. This is more evidence Biden is senile and totally out of it. Can things get any worse? I’m sure they will.
I’m sure, wink wink, they told their defense team they will have more wiggle room after the election.
Austin finally did his job. I guess he realized that letting the 9/11 Masterminds get away with it was not a good thing.
I really wonder how he came to that conclusion after letting the Afghanistan horror happen.
Election season headline. They’ll get relased post-November.
It’s more about the revolution than it is about ‘elections’. They’re just about ready to bury that little problem.
“This didn’t happen as an independent move. Austin reversed this deal because the higher ups suddenly realized this move looked awful and would give Trump ammunition to use against Harris.”
Internal polling results came back.
They’re making her the scapegoat.
Yes.
They’re scapegoating her.
Obama called him “the missing General” referring to the CENTCOM morning situation briefings from the CENTCOM Watch to the White Hut situation room. Lt.s, PFCs, AFCs, SSGs, always gave the briefings, but the Holder’s peep General Commanding CENTCOM was always missing.
Exactly. They ALWAYS head fake to the right in an election season. And why not? Voters keep falling for it.
That Ft. Hood "Major" is still sitting on death row at Leavenworth.
If nothing else, Austin must have realized that the VOTERS in New York might get mightily incensed at leniency shown to terrorists involved in the 9/11 attack.
