Stay safe and GOOD Luck, I am safe on the east coast!
Thanks for what you do.
I’m 10 feet above sea level... doesn’t that put me above the warning? “Asking for a friend’... just kidding - I’m too embarrassed to think I’m not sure.
People like me - one of the types who hate hurricanes - should probably move inland.
Thanks! Debby is due west of us now. Gusty squalls, lots of rain. Debby needs to keep on moving. I surely hope our friends in SE Georgia and SC are paying attention.
Watch out for twisters. 🌪️
Yes.. easily. And it does a number of storm systems.
When I was kid, working summers between college semesters at Dow Chemical’s plant in Freeport, Texas, I saw it all the time. My job was putting a new roof on four GIGANTIC brick buildings that smelted Mag Chloride to make molten magnesium. Each building was easily 200 yards long, 150 feet high with a series of stacks spewing out LOTS of heat.
If it rained? Our construction crew got to take the rest of day off. That meant, going somewhere to drink beer and play pool. SO MANY times, a solid line of thunderstorms would come right at us... but, when that heat updraft hit them, they would just part like the Red Sea and go right around us. We could literally see very hard rain a few hundred yards away. I hated it! LOL
But I loved weather. always have. Even when it doesn’t cooperate with my plans.
My kids in Tampa say the rain there has been minimal. They’re been getting it ever day for the past few weeks. So, they’re used to it now.
Getting nasty here. Heavy rain, 50+ gusts, flooding and trees down .
I love it here.
5.56mm
Same here. Debby is out our back door. I can see horizontal rain at the moment.
~~~~~~~ they are ready, have you seen the movie or read the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. That book mostly tells the whole story in that area. Those people are tough.
Clint Eastwood directed the movie.
I met John Berendt, the author once years ago along with UGA’s Sonny Seiler. Berendt was a strange but interesting guy. Yeah South Georgian’s are tough but the flooding this storm may bring is going to test their mettle.
Yes... VERY disturbing. Here we are, still moving in, and with no experience on how to deal with this. Doing our best to prep. We may get the heck out of here if it looks like things will get really bad. Then again, we feel we need to stay if there's any damage to our house...
I don't like the uncertainty of the storm path. An official from Chatham County, GA (Savannah) just said the rainfall amounts predicted for this area are so unprecedented... "This could be a 1,000 year storm."
Hope things aren’t too bad for those of you in Florida right now!
I used to tell my mother—if water starts coming inside, climb up onto the kitchen counter.
There in the middle of replacement in Passe A Grille.
We have had a very calm day all day as big as the storm is we appear to have dodged a bullet.
Everyone from sw fla. north should pay close attention this could be one to watch.
Debby is giving us the finger as she passes by. Eyewall is about 54 miles due west.
We have a 2nd floor, but I remember the images of those people stranded on their roofs during Hurricane Katrina, as the water covered their entire 2-story houses.
We're pretty good swimmers, but I don't want to swim with alligators and other scary critters, lol.
Ugh... praying Debby fizzles away - somehow.
LOL! Glad those of you on the west coast of Florida apparently dodged a bullet. We're still watching and waiting here in coastal South Carolina...
Pretty decent over in Seminole County- NautiNurse getting smacked, though 🌬⛈️
That was funny!
