I’m 10 feet above sea level... doesn’t that put me above the warning? “Asking for a friend’... just kidding - I’m too embarrassed to think I’m not sure.

People like me - one of the types who hate hurricanes - should probably move inland.

Depends on how far from the shore you are and the strength of the hurricane. If you’re 10’ elevation and 50 miles from the coast ? You’re probably ok. If you’re less than 5-10 miles from the coast, the strength, angle of approach and tide schedule all come into play. Anything above a Cat 2 storm? Yea. You could definitely be in danger. Even a Cat 2 could be a problem if it’s a direct hit at high tide.

If there is any real chance that storm surge can hit where you live? It’s better to be somewhere else!
