Acting Secret Service Chief ‘Retaliated Against’ Agents Who Had Security Concerns At Trump Event, Whistleblower Claims
Daily Caller News Foundation ^ | August 01, 2024 | Rebeka Zeljko

Posted on 08/01/2024 6:58:47 PM PDT by george76

A whistleblower alleged that Secret Service acting Director Ronald Rowe personally cut security resources and “retaliated” against agents with security concerns leading up to former President Donald Trump’s rally on July 13, according to a letter released Thursday.

The whistleblower alleged that Rowe personally implemented “significant cuts” to the Counter Surveillance Division (CSD), which does advanced threat assessments for venues, and alleged that agents who expressed security concerns were “retaliated against,” according to Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley’s letter to Rowe. As a result, the CSD failed to perform its “typical evaluation” of the rally venue in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and “was not present on the day” of the attempted assassination.

...

“The whistleblower claims that if personnel from CSD had been present at the rally, the gunman would have been handcuffed in the parking lot after being spotted with a rangefinder,” the letter states.

...

“Secret Service personnel expressed alarm that individuals were admitted to the event without vetting,” the letter says. “The whistleblower alleges that those who raised such concerns were retaliated against.”

At the July 13 rally, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to fire shots at the former president from a rooftop just 130 yards away from the stage. Crooks had reportedly been spotted by witnesses, flagged by Secret Service and even was identified by a local counter sniper over an hour and a half before Trump took the stage.

A whistleblower has alleged to my office that the Secret Service Counter Surveillance Division (CSD), the division that performs threat assessment of event sites before the event occurs, did not perform its typical evaluation of the Butler site and was not present on the day,” the letter states. “This is significant because CSD’s duties include evaluating potential security threats outside the security perimeter and mitigating those threats during the event.”

As a result of these security lapses, Crooks was able to take aim at and injure the former president, kill volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore and injure attendees James Copenhaver and David Dutch, who are both in stable condition

...

Rowe testified on Tuesday before a joint hearing held by the Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security Committee after U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on July 23 following her own evasive congressional testimony. Rowe’s testimony was similarly evasive as he left many lawmakers’ questions unanswered.

“You acknowledged in your Senate testimony that the American Glass Research complex should have been included in the security perimeter for the Butler event,” the letter says. “The whistleblower alleges that because CSD was not present in Butler, this manifest shortcoming was never properly flagged or mitigated.”

Despite this, Trump has vowed to continue holding outdoor rallies and said that the Secret Service will “substantially step up” their security detail going forward, according to a post on Truth Social from Saturday.

At the very least, the SS is incredibly incompetent.

The job of the SS is also to look for a change in Tactics, so that they can quickly be ready to protect the President. Thus, it WOULD BE IMPERATIVE THAT EVERY EVENT BE RECORDED, DOCUMENTED AND ANALYZED TO DETECT ANY CHANGE IN STRATEGIES FOUND.

Just ask yourself, Would the SS not be recording, documenting and ANALYZING EVERY EVENT IN WHICH THE PRESIDENT DOES TO TRY TO HEAD OFF FUTURE POSSIBILITIES??

If your answer is NO, then Presidents would have been dead from JFK on, the fact there have been few suggests that the SS has been doing their job up until this point.

EVEN IF LOCAL POLICE WERE USED, THEIR COMMUNICATION WOULD BE RECORDED to HEAD OFF FUTURE POSSIBILITIES EVEN IF IT IS NOT THE PRESIDENT BEING DEFENDED.

---Thus I am declaring a TOTAL BS ALERT. The new director needs to be QUESTIONED ON WHETHER ANALYSIS IS BEING DONE FOR FUTURE EVENTS IS EVEN BEING DONE FROM RECORDINGS AND POST EVENT INTERVIEWS!!

REMEMBER: THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST PROFESSIONAL AGENCY ON THE PLANET. Anything less than purely professional means your charge is DEAD.

I GUARANTEE, THAT IF IT WERE BIDEN AT THAT RALLY IN BUTLER, they would BE GOING AT THE RECORDINGS AND POST INTERVIEWS WITH A FINE TOOTHED COMB!! INSTEAD OF OBFUSCATING!!

Thank you for that. That is a MUST-WATCH video.

Tony Shaffer is absolutely right about the "dead zone" of no talk after the shooting (no comment from WH, SS, FBI, etc.) because they expected Trump to be dead.

I believe that this was a situation that had been ‘grown’ for a long time coming. Somebody, likely FBI got wind of his guy and watched him to see where it would go. Right political animosity, apparently had good gun skills and could get access at the right time. All that was needed then was a SS who would leave him be and do the job - then take him out. All USSS had to do was to keep Local LE in the twighlight. No mistake. There are too many confluences of events for this to other than a facilitated government assassination.

I’m sure the local cops were well-threatened, too, that’s why they pulled a Uvalde and let him get shots off.

The decision to assassinate a political opponent of the administration is above the pay grade of the Secret Service (or any other agency).

If an agency like the SS was in on the conspiracy, it had to run to the White House. No agency that ultimately reports to the President is going to take it upon itself to assassinate a person like Trump. An action like this could have far-reaching effects for the administration and the country and no bureaucracy (like the Secret Service) is going to initiate such a plan without orders to do so from the commander-in-chief.

When Cheatle resigned, all the information about Crooks' shootings went with her.

Information about the "order to assassinate" might have gone with her, but her instructions to those who carried it out (whether actively or passively by simply looking away from certain vulnerable areas) are still with the agents involved.

I don’t think Biden had any idea what was happening, nor could his addled mind and lifelong knack for saying idiotic things be trusted to not spill the beans. Obama on the other hand….

Heard Thomas Baker, author of The Fall of the FBI, speak last night. He spoke of changes from the time that he was there that allowed confusion and failure to occur and that thus tend to lead to conspiracy theories. People from the audience mentioned these theories but he of course could not say whether they were right or wrong.

He spoke of the days when all agents carried a little copy of the Constitution with them. A dedicated public servant. I haven’t bought the book yet (they ran out of them I think) but will this weekend.

“As a result, the CSD failed to perform its “typical evaluation” of the rally venue in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and “was not present on the day” of the attempted assassination.“

None of this impacts the fact that the shooter was on the roof in plain sight of anyone who cared to look.
