Biden set to unveil major Supreme Court reform plans next week
Daily Mail ^

President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to unveil a dramatic Supreme Court reform next week in an attempt to overhaul the high court.

Two people familiar with the matter told Politico that the president is likely to endorse establishing term limits for justices, and bring in a code of ethics.

The 81-year-old is expected to push for an amendment that would limit immunity for presidents and other officeholders.

His amendment would come directly after the court ruled that presidents are shielded from prosecution for officials acts, in a case brought by Donald Trump.

It is said that Biden will call for the overhaul while on a trip to Texas, where he is set to speak at the Lyndon Baines Johnson presidential library in Austin.

The White House declined to comment, referring to remarks earlier this week from his press secretary that he believes the SC should be 'held to a high ethics'

After the court ruled on Trump's immunity case, Biden called the decision 'dangerous' and said it would embolden Trump if the Republican is reelected.

He warned that the conservative-leaning court 'fundamentally changed' a bedrock principle of the nation.

Biden said: 'This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America.

'Today's decision almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do.

'This is a fundamentally new principle and it's a dangerous precedent. The only limits will be self-imposed by the president alone.'

The Court's 6-3 ruling practically insured that Trump wouldn't face another trial before the November election.

Biden called the decision a continued 'attack' on 'wide range of long established legal principles,' pointing to the reversal of Roe v. Wade and controversial decisions on civil and voting rights.

“He warned that the conservative-leaning court ‘fundamentally changed’ a bedrock principle of the nation.”

One could never, ever, apply that claim to any liberal leaning court.

The man is an idiot writ large.

The President has no Constitutional authority to do any of this

Nor any to forgive student loans, but he did.

I think Trump and the GOP need to start making “Save our Constitution” a major campaign theme, just like the Dems are running wild constantly babbling “Save our Democracy.” We need to hit the Dems on their attempt to take political control of the Supreme Court, thereby violating the Constitution’s separation of powers, as well as their stepped up attacks against the Second Amendment, Free Speech, and Freedom of Religion.

Remember, if the Democrats take control over the Court, we will have no rights guaranteed anymore. They will perpetrate their lawfare/political persecution on all dissenters. This needs to be a major campaign focus because of how insanely important it is.

I noticed this verbiage: “Biden called the decision a continued ‘attack’ on ‘wide range of long established legal principles,’ pointing to the reversal of Roe v. Wade.”

Is there a “long established legal principle” to murder babies?

No, he can’t do this. Setting term limits on any federal judges would violate the constitution, only a constitutional amendment would permit that to be changed. Even if you were to get 2/3 of each house of Congress to agree, which I don’t believe he would, Then he would still need to get 3/4 of the state legislatures to agree to the amendment. That is just not going to happen.

This is nothing but a campaign stunt.

He can’t do it because Constitution ... because never ratify ... because etc..

He would not be proposing it if there were not some way around all the safe guards.

It's crunch time for team Biden now.

Because he was dumped as a candidate, Joe suddenly has only 5 months to write his "legacy" --- the way he's portrayed in history.

He's also lost all of his political capital. He can't push through a parking ticket, much less an overhaul of the court system.

I expect a series of pronouncements and initiatives which have no substance or authority of law, but will look good in the history books. A "cancer moon shot" sounds high-minded and statesmanlike. How about a "National Day of ______" or a call for "______ Reform"? (fill in the blank with something everyone would want). Sounds good, and you don't have to get anyone to actually implement or enforce it or even vote for it.

Money's not an issue --- Joe has a big pension and offshore accounts. OTOH, Hunter probably can't sell an alliance with "The Big Guy" for pennies on the dollar now. Hope he has a Plan B or he"ll be broke soon.

“ Other people are planning things for Joe to attempt to announce. Americans have a right to know who those “other people” are.”

This. This is the actual news here.

There are no ways around the safeguards. This is just political posturing intended to energize the base.

This is Schumer and odumbo. They hate the judges ruled against them. Remember schumer's threat on the steps of SCOTUS.

We're dealing with another insurrection by the Left.
