President Joe Biden tapped Kamala Harris to tackle the daunting issue of immigration in March 2021, but the vice president’s public-facing work on addressing the root causes of migration largely evaporated within months, according to an NBC News analysis of public documents, U.S. aid disbursements and Harris’ travel schedule.

The Border Patrol union says Harris did not deliver on any of her immigration-related assignments.

When Harris’ name is mentioned at the border, “it’s a lot of eye rolls,” said Jon Anfinsen, national executive vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, the Border Patrol union.

“I would ask what has she done in terms of solving the root causes. This has been a goal of hers for this many years. What’s changed? I would argue it’s not improved; it has only gotten worse,” Anfinsen said. “Shortly around that period of time, it kind of just went away, and you didn’t hear it.”

An NBC News review found that her travel to address root issues in the region was largely limited to June 2021, with one trip to the border in El Paso, Texas, and another to Mexico and Guatemala. She made one additional trip to Honduras in January 2022.

Her work in Guatemala may have been most memorable. It was where she faced criticism from immigration groups for telling migrants “don’t come” to the U.S.

By declaring that they wanted to tackle the "root causes" of migration ILLEGAL INVASION, the Biden Administration cast the net as widely as possible, so as to

1. Ensure that the "problem" is insoluble - i.e., make sure that the "root causes" (once identified) are so vast and systemic that no single solution (e.g.: BUILD THE WALL) would be found, and that rather only a multitude of solutions (incl. funding south-of-the-border abortion clinics, etc.) should be implemented;
2. Guarantee that any solution(s) would require decades and trillions of dollars to implement;
3. Keep the option open that the "root cause" was something as innate and unfixable as HUMAN WEAKNESS;
4. Avoid having to address the EASILY FIXED proximal causes - like our damn border is too porose, so BUILD THE WALL!

Focusing on the root causes of immigration is akin to a defensive safety who knew he is too slow , so to fake a knee injury after his guy scores.

In other words it’s a cop out, an excuse. Any logical and practical person knows to be proactive, to work on what YOU can control. Like our wall, follow our laws, kill their armed cartel who cross over…guess we are too effeminate as a nation for that last one now.

Thanks, and in addition, all immigrants (and all youth) should be required to be schooled for two years in honest, objective and thus overall honorific history of the US (not a Howard Zin skewed version) and of its foundational ideology, as once reflected in education, and of capitalism versus socialism, etc., and with aptitude tests, and some vocational training, and with tests, and upon completion, citizenship being granted which is required to work more than a few months, and vote, obtain gov. benefits, etc.
