J. D. Vance voted for independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin in November 2016. He said this in 2021 in an interview with Time Magazine.
McMullin was on the ballot in 2016 in Kentucky. In Ohio he was a declared write-in candidate and he was credited with 12,574 votes. It is not clear which state Vance lived in at the time.
The mention of his 2016 vote is under “Vance’s Political Turn” in the first paragraph.
And Ronald Wilson Reagan was once a Democrat.
His heroes are the Bush Crime Family. A useful idiot to be ignored.
Big deal. Compare that to Reagan gave amnesty to millions of illegals.
If the movie ”Hillbilly Elegy” (I hear the book is better) is even 50% accurate, that’s all I need to support Vance. Who wouldn’t support someone like that regardless of what he thought of Trump at one time or voted for in ‘16?
I had a more favorable view of the CIA until I learned that they were behind so much sh*t in this country. McMullin was a sheep in wolf clothing to conservatives and sucked in way too many. The problem was that in 2016, Trump seemed too good to be true and we judged him on past RINOs that lie constantly. He did what he said he would do, which is so different from most politicians.
Who cares if he did. I wanted Cruz. I voted for Trump.
The original poster is a real old-timer here. So I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he’s not trying to stop the Trump Train.
But as you implied, such posts are not helpful. The GOP convention is over, and the train is now roaring down the track.
Yikes, let’s hope Vance has learned more than just that Trump is not Hitler. I also was skeptical of Trump, because I didn’t see him taking on the bureaucratic, elitist Deep State that had usurped power in Washington. So I stuck with the Constitution Party. And I was right - Trump had to learn the hard way who the real enemies of America were and what the greatest obstacles to good governance in America were. By 2020 he’d richly learned his lesson and I could vote for him wholeheartedly. But McMullin? That’s just messed up.
Before you throw stones, did you vote for the Bushes and Mitt Romney?
Why did he think that a CIA agent would be a good choice for president?
“I plugged my nose for Romney, Bushes, McCain. Big deal”
...exact same here. Actually, I cut McCain’s name off my bumper sticker.
JD has ADVance d. Has anybody watched Hillbilly Elegy? I recommend it.
I also heard that in 1995 Vance passed gas in public.
If paleocons had filled up Reagan's admin there would have been no illegal alien amnesty and no Iran-Contra Affair.
If idiots and Neocon scum like Pompeo and Bolton hadn't been in Trump's admin we would have gotten out of Afghanistan with honor, built the wall, and no longer have troops in Syria.
...and papa was a rolling stone!
I’m proud to say I never voted for W. The only Republican I voted for after Reagan was McCain, and only because the alternative was Obama and it was close and of course it was also a vote for Sarah Palin.
We all know that he was openly anti-Trump. He was mislead as to who Trump really was by the GOPe to the point of believing he was America’s Hitler.
He showed extremely poor judgment. And I don’t know how a committed Christian can marry a Hindu. Are his kids even Christian? “diversity” is the national religion in America of course....
That said he’s on the right side of most issues. But there are concerns.
“The only Republican I voted for after Reagan was McCain”
Who did you vote for in 2016 and 2020?
