The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin has argued for the Democratic Party to nominate a Republican as their presidential candidate in a bid to beat Donald Trump.
In recent weeks, calls for incumbent president Joe Biden to step down have grown ever louder, amid concerns over the president’s health and cognitive abilities.
Current polling suggests that Trump, who was beaten by Biden in 2020 after serving one controversy-laden term in the Oval Office, is on course to win a second term this November.
In an essay published by The New York Times, Sorkin drew parallels between real-world events and his acclaimed TV series, which focused on the goings-on at the White House during the administration of Democrat Jed Bartlet (Martin Sheen).

“What if Bartlet’s opponent had been a dangerous imbecile with an observable psychiatric disorder who related to his supporters on a fourth-grade level and treated the law as something for suckers and poor people?” He wrote. “And was a hero to white supremacists? We’d have had Bartlet drop out of the race and endorse whoever had the best chance of beating the guy.

Hang in there, I guarantee this is related. When I was a kid watching Batman even I knew there was zero chance a political leader like the Chief of Police would call in some clown wearing a cape and a mask to do his work for him. The Chief would think, gosh, if the public learns I have to call in this guy after spending all their taxpayer money, won’t they ask why the heck they hired me? Why not replace me with the guy in the cape and mask?
Similarly, the Democratic party has functionaries who help plan and guide the party’s decision makers on strategies and executions. The very fact some celebrity suggested something guarantees it won’t be accepted by anyone in the party. Afterall, they’ll reason, I’m being paid to do this job. Why should they pay me if we’re going to take this outsider’s suggestions?
Mitt Romney was never a Republican I guess if that would happen it would be proven out.
Sorkin must really be on some kind of good drugs to come up with an idea like this.
Aaron is one nasty little bitch that’s for sure.
“They would need a fleet of ambulances to carry off the casualties.”
Someone needs to invent the “ambu-bus” to handle Democrat social gatherings.
Mittens/Cheney: the Mormon/Moron ticket.
They must really want Trump to be president for all the bad stuff coming down!
Please don’t throw us in the briar patch. Nobody like a traitor. Mittens is a snake who has screwed over too many people. Few Republicans or democrats will vote for him.
And....ACTION!
“it would upset woke democrats”
They were brainwashed to hate Romney’s guts.
Just mention his name to a leftist and then duck.
Lol.
And Obama and Biden have not served "controversy laden" terms?
Funny how leftist extremist writers work in such language to con their ignorant barbarian readers.
I have posted that Mitt might be Kamala’s veep as a “National Unity” ticket.
So the Newspaper of Record continues the Democratic Party’s policy of being led by actors and related Hollywood geniuses. What in the world qualifies these people to lead the most powerful and important country in the world? And what makes the Times think Aaron Sorkin’s opinion matters?
I could see that maybe happening.
I predicted this two weeks ago.
Romney is a democrat and a snake. He’d do this.
Democrats would look moderate and have a strong chance of winning.
The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.
What was it we got with 45?
A dangerous imbecile or four years of peace?
An observable psychiatric disorder or beneficial common sense policies?
Fourth-grade conversations or improved relations with every country?
Lawless executive actions or consistentcy with the Constitution?
Romney, for all his faults, is not this dumb. He has expressed no interest and taken no action to run for President this year. He is not in the running and is not going to get forced into it.
Whatever Sorkin and the NYT are on, they need to cut back a bit.
Stupid idea, the Democrats were subjected to Smear Machine attacking Romney (not that he didn’t deserve it), so there will be far too many turned off by him.
Dead dogs on the roof of cars ...binders of women....please do it..😛😛💀😄
Despite what we may believe about Mitt Romney, remember when he was running how they said how evil he was.
