As he runs for the White House again, former President Donald Trump is aggressively courting Black voters – a group that for decades has been the bedrock of the Democratic vote.
During his Manhattan criminal trial, Trump hosted rallies in New York City neighborhoods that are traditionally heavily Democratic.
Madeline Brame said in November she'll vote for Trump, although there was a time in her life where voting for Trump would have been unthinkable.
"I was a 45-year loyal Democrat," Brame told NY1.
In 2016, Brame did not vote for Trump, but she did in 2020. Navigating the criminal justice system after the 2018 murder of her son became a turning point. Now a vocal supporter of Trump, Brame even took the stage during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
In an interview with NY1, Brame said, "I knew that he had conservative values that the country was losing.”
For Linwood Dillard, November will be the first time he votes for Trump.
As a business owner, Dillard said, during the pandemic, "Trump was giving a lot to the people that was small business owners.”

White, friendly, with some gray hair, and well-dressed, I must have seemed approachable, so she glanced around carefully and asked me in a conspiratorial manner what I thought of Trump.
I said, "Trump will be an even better President the second time." She beamed and said she was also for Trump -- and mentioned the Bronx rally.
Trump got 34 convictions and shot just to get the black vote(sarc) I actually talked to a black guy the other day who said he’s voting enthusiastically for Trump because he is “one of us”
You sound like a Democrat - assuming the most venal in whole races - I’m in S. MS and during a car show/fair, there were political booths and a LOT of Blacks were walking around with Pro-Trump yard signs and other paraphernalia that was being handed out - it was the trailer-park Whites who had the other side’s crap......
Staying on the Democratic Party plantation … It’s perplexing. I wonder… If they did a poll how many Africa Americans would know that Lincoln was a Republican?
