The suspect in the Trump rally shooting searched online for information on the arrest of a Michigan mass shooter and his parents, who were prosecuted in a 2021 high school shooting. He visited websites for how to build explosives. And in the minutes before he fired shots in an attempted assassination of Donald Trump, he screenshotted a picture from a livestream of the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally.
A week before the shooting, Thomas Matthew Crooks searched online for the date of the Democratic National Convention and where Trump planned to speak, as well as other searches for Trump and President Joe Biden.
These details were among those shared by FBI and US Secret Service officials in a Wednesday briefing with lawmakers and by additional people familiar with the investigation. The previously unreported readout documents the scope of the investigation, including an expanded timeline of the would-be assassin's actions leading to up his assault and law enforcement's failure to prevent it.
Investigators remain puzzled about possible motives for Saturday's attempted assassination of the former president, finding little to point to political or ideological intentions for the attack.
But the would-be assassin's recent trail on the internet has provided investigators with a detailed picture of his possible mindset before the attack. FBI behavioral experts are building a profile of Crooks based on the findings, the FBI told lawmakers.

What did he think would happen as a result of killing Trump?
There’s certainly no guarantee that the assassination would help Biden or anyone else to become president. Most likely, he was trying to make a name for himself or was sadly disillusioned and brainwashed into believing that Trump is “a threat to democracy.”
I think this could be translated as, "Give us a day or two so we can make something up."

the parents were prosecuted because the MI kid was a minor, making the parents responsible. The assassin wasn’t a minor so his parents likely won’t be prosecuted unless there is some sort of contributory reason.

This kid has an engineering background. That makes him a numbers guy. He might have used Library monitors. Betting he tossed a lot of stuff before going to the rally. I’d rip the kid’s room and house to shreds.
The object wasn’t to make them proud. The object was revenge. Have a feeling the parents never responded to his cries for help and made him a loner. His sister moved out of the family home 3 years earlier.

Nope not buying. If that were the case an outfit called the Secret Service would have spotted him and neutralized him/moved Trump out. Period. He got of a kill shot then he was dead. It was a stupid clumsy obvious hit which involved at the very least the secret service.
Crumbley Crooks would be a good description of the Democratic Party.
He went to a Trump rally with weapons and shot at President Trump to be sure, with the intention of killing him. Those are facts.
What is not proven is that he intended to only shoot President Trump, or if he intended to continue to commit mass murder afterward. The counter-sniper took him out so we’ll never know, fortunately.
I’m waiting to see a detailed forensic analysis of every shot that was fired, by him and by the counter-snipers, and the trajectory of each shot because that will tell us something about his intent. If he continued to fire at Trump after he ducked down, that’s one thing, but if he aimed into the crowd, that’s something else.
Motive is difficult to prove from circumstantial evidence, and he didn’t leave much to show what was going on in his head (not just regarding the shooting but the consistent reports are that he was a loner with few friends, and most kept his ideas to himself.
I think the shot that pierced Trump’s ear was the 1st shot fired, in a slow burst of 3 or 4. Then 2 more bursts until he was neutralized. He shot to the left of Trump and hit the Fire Chief. Then a last burst that may have injured one at the far side. He shot into the crowd. Not with accuracy just acting like a StormTrooper.
I’m waiting for a 20 year old communist, who once gave $20 to the DNC, to take a shot at FJB while wearing a MAGA hat; after which the FBI will give us the definitive motive.
Notice they have found information about him that explains his propensity for violence but absolutely nothing that explains his motivation. And are we supposed to believe he is a 20 year old male with absolutely no presence on social media. It’s almost as though it’s all contrived.
