The suspect in the Trump rally shooting searched online for information on the arrest of a Michigan mass shooter and his parents, who were prosecuted in a 2021 high school shooting. He visited websites for how to build explosives. And in the minutes before he fired shots in an attempted assassination of Donald Trump, he screenshotted a picture from a livestream of the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally.
A week before the shooting, Thomas Matthew Crooks searched online for the date of the Democratic National Convention and where Trump planned to speak, as well as other searches for Trump and President Joe Biden.
These details were among those shared by FBI and US Secret Service officials in a Wednesday briefing with lawmakers and by additional people familiar with the investigation. The previously unreported readout documents the scope of the investigation, including an expanded timeline of the would-be assassin's actions leading to up his assault and law enforcement's failure to prevent it.
Investigators remain puzzled about possible motives for Saturday's attempted assassination of the former president, finding little to point to political or ideological intentions for the attack.
But the would-be assassin's recent trail on the internet has provided investigators with a detailed picture of his possible mindset before the attack. FBI behavioral experts are building a profile of Crooks based on the findings, the FBI told lawmakers.

Two days ago they told us there was nothing out of ordinary on the upstanding citizens phone, and he even had a picture of Joe Biden on his phone!

But even after the attack we’ve got no info on the Crooks parents who both have active counselor licenses.

Who's to say Crooks social media footprint wasn't scrubbed (as reported) and replaced with the stuff the FBI is now "reporting"?

Just reverse the scenario, instead of Trump, it was Biden who almost gets whacked.
The press would have the shooter’s family in the spotlight. Something stinks here.
The kid was obviously used and seemed to be having a Fun Day, climbing on roofs, flying drones, pointing his rifle at a cop, popping off a couple of rounds at Trump, the boy was having a blast at Summer Camp until his head was blown off.
He was the sacrificial lamb, dude was not going live to tell anyone anything.
He was not a magic elf that allowed him to play up to the point where he gets his head blown off. Someone “handled” this guy, count on it. I’ll go with the CIA, FBI and the Secret Service, the same crew that did Dallas.
The CIA has a thing about using familes in their operations, so yeah, check his parents.
Interesting choice of school shooters for him to take an interest in. The case is known for being one where the pro gun control crowd prosecuted the parents for the actions of their kid.
Maybe his motive was to get back at his his parents for something. He should have known from reading up on that shooter that there could be enormous consequences for his family if he carried out the shooting of a president.
Then was letting their adult son (who reportedly was part of a group threatening to shoot up his high school a few years ago) take their gun to the range—but then being so worried when he didn’t return when expected that they called the police.
