A horrific crash that killed six high school girls in Oklahoma two years ago has the head of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board urging parents to warn teenagers about the risk of driving after using marijuana.
Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy made the appeal to parents Thursday as her agency released the final report on the March 22, 2022 collision between a tiny Chevrolet Spark hatchback and a gravel-hauling semi in the small town of Tishomingo.
The board, after an investigation by its staff, determined that the crash was caused by the 16-year-old driver slowing for an intersection, then accelerating through a stop sign because she likely was impaired by recent marijuana use and was distracted by having five teen passengers in the car, the NTSB report said.

Absolutely disgusting! Elicit drugs & driving! Pray tell how these teenagers got these drugs?
Driving under the influence of anything that affects your driving is not wise. That being said, marijuana is no worse, or better, than alcohol. Some can handle it and some cannot. Hopefully people can figure that out before they hurt themselves or others.
Shops are competing to offer the highest strains...which is 3, 4, 5 times stronger than the weed of 40 years ago. Definitely not your father’s marijuana.

Government loves to be at both ends of issues like legalization and Illegality of weed. It create problems and helps solve the problems. It helps to be the biggest weed dealer in the USA as they tax the consumer end.
I’m seeing a lot more bad wrecks in my neck of the woods, people flipping their cars or driving through storefronts, I figured the increase is due to people passing out because of the C19 vaxes or people smoking a crap load of weed now that it is legal here.
Yup—I smoked marijuana and drove in my teen years.

My neighbor has the same tiny car and those huge obnoxious gravel hauling dump trucks are always roaring down my street.
Can’t imagine 6 girls crammed into one of those twerp mobiles.
Same kind of dump truck took out my sweet loaded Mazda 6 a few years ago..
Meanwhile, responsible drivers with decades of faultless driving pay increasing insurances rates thanks to the stupid, drunk, drugged, distracted texters and uninsured.

it starts slow, the destruction of a society and culture...
you stop making sex a special activity for married people then you stop pregnancies and then you kill off pregancies and meanwhile you cheapen women by constant porn in music/tv/movies/mags....and you also introduce the "nice " little harmless drug that just makes you hungry....

I have no doubt that being high on marijuana can cause teenagers to take stupid risks, but...
Teenagers can and do take stupid risks without pharmacological support.

Reminds me of my dad who said drinking beer made him more alert and”sharp”. He would get falling down drunk after downing two 3.2 Oklahoma beers.
Same. NEVER touched the stuff after that.
