Extremist figures and members of the Make America Great Again movement have criticized the wife of Ohio Senator JD Vance after former President Donald Trump named him as his running mate in the 2024 election.
....
In the wake of Trump's vice presidential announcement on Monday, numerous conservative and far-right figures have taken to social media to launch racist attacks against Usha Vance because of her Indian heritage and the assumption that her influence on her husband's political career means the Republican Party will be softer on immigration.
"I'm sure this guy is going to be great on immigration," Jaden McNeil, a far-right activist and the founder of America First Students, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing a picture of the Vances with their newborn baby.
Nick Fuentes, a white supremacist who visited Trump at his Mar-a-Lago home along with rapper Kanye West in November 2022, suggested that Vance would not be a "defender of white identity" because of his wife's Indian heritage.
"Who is this guy, really?" Fuentes said on his podcast. "Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?"
Vincent James Foxx, who was present at the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, wrote on X: "JD Vance gets tapped as VP and immediately there's a Hindu prayer at the RNC. Next we'll see Sen. Mike Lee and JD Vance team up to convince Trump to let in 10 million Indian immigrants. Green cards on diplomas!"
Conservative commentator Stew Peters wrote, "There is an obvious Indian coup taking place in the US right before our eyes," while sharing a screenshot of an article about the Vances' three children.

That’s the problem, someone says something they like, spouts the correct words, and they get ahead. Look at Ramaswamy, perfect example.
People of one religion will often choose to join the religion of their partner so that their children aren’t confused by their parents having different beliefs.
Whether Vance’s wife is still a devout Hindu hasn’t appeared in any article I’ve read. If she changed her religion, fine for her. If she kept to the faith of her childhood, fine for her.
What’s important is that she raises children to be good and decent human beings, and it sounds like the Vances are doing exactly that.
He did name them. All nut jobs out there are not exclusive to the left; the right has a few, too.
Survey of Indian adults, 2019-2020.
I’d have to look again, but I thought I read that they are or may both be devote or practicing Catholics. It’d be interesting and I’m sure they’ll get asked how their raising their kids. But again, She and the kids are not running for VP or future president, so it shouldn’t matter.
The internet is so vast that you can always find somebody saying whatever you want them to say, especially if you’re willing to scrape the very bottom of the barrel.
I read somewhere that she is Hindu, but their kids are being raised Catholic.
I believe that religious faith is an intensely personal issue, not to be dictated by anybody else. What matters is how a person lives and acts.
I guess you would state that a Jewish person should never be a leader of our country. I think that’s a very ignorant and prejudiced idea.
Are you a Christian, Jamestown1630?
A couple of obscure, u-tube names big whoop!
I can name multiple big names Democrats and Biden himself who said Trump was a racist, sexist dictator, threat to democracy, decency, treacherous, liar etc. that could have twisted that boy to assassinate Trump!
weaknews
One or two people can always spout nonsense .
Doesn’t represent a movement .
Newsweek -trash not worth a second of your time
I am culturally Christian and was raised as one. I have a powerful faith in a Creator God and I believe in Christian principles, though I don’t believe everything in the Bible - OT or NT - literally.
I don’t belong to any church or sect and wouldn’t want to.
I agree it is racist, some folk just work that way.
My mother in law threatened my husband with disowning if he married a black girl.
He told me this years later- I’m white, but I told him I would have tried my best to fake it had I known.
Absolutely nobody counts Nick Fuentes as MAGA. You can stop lying now newsweak.
She’s a Catholic.
What is wrong with people?
“Conservative commentator Stew Peters wrote, ‘There is an obvious Indian coup taking place in the US right before our eyes,’ while sharing a screenshot of an article about the Vances’ three children.”
I met Stew in Dallas at a charity a couple of years ago. I got a photo with him when we all hung out at the hotel pool after the event. I had just got a photo with a celebrity football player who is black and was with his white wife and their children in the pool. I think Stew’s kids were playing with his kids as I recall. We visited and he gave me his personal cell phone. Same with the black athlete. If Stew were racist, he would not have been friendly in this situation.
The left-wing media loves to conflate opposition to open borders and attempts to water down the Christian influence in our culture, as “racist”.
While I don’t personally know Stew very well I’m fairly confident he is not a racist or white supremacist. But Newsweek and the leftwing media, for whatever reason, not only stir up racial strife but also seem to push anti-white racism while simultaneously decrying “racism” in our country.
