The local police officer who encountered the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump “did not retreat” and tried to grab his gun but fell backwards, injuring himself in the process. The officer is now in “pretty bad” mental shape, Butler Township Commissioner Edward Natali said, explaining that media outlets are wrongly blaming local officers for what happened Saturday evening in Butler, Pennsylvania.

I have never felt that I had enough information to blame that police officer. There are just too many unknown variables. But it now sounds like the only reason there was even attempt to stop the shooter was because some police officers decided to take matters into their own hands even though those that were guiding them at the highest levels were completely incompetent. Possibly even intentionally so.

Yes indeed...

Also it would have triggered the SS to action before the head shot was taken...

Yes indeed, as I surmised after a careful re-reading of the article...

Everything needs to be taken with a large grain of salt but this rings true. Of course the local cops were relegated to traffic control. They are the lowest on the food chain. The smug SS types wouldn’t want these so-called Barney Fifes involved in anything important.

BUT they were the ones who ran to danger unlike the Cowards of Broward. They did not run in circles asking, “what do we do?” They are heroes in my book.

And the angst of the officer who peeked over the roof is understandable. He must be second guessing himself seven ways to Sunday. What if I drew my pistol before being boosted up? Did my actions cause the shooter to fire before the SS was about to take him out?

He took action. He was injured. He issued the tactical alert.

Absolutely! The immediate urgency and confusion would have led to President Trump being removed from that stage and protected until the threat could be assessed and cleared.

Dropped his gun and fell.

He feels really bad though.

“ It was his duty to go up there.”

I meant I blame whoever let the shooter get up there.
