The Department of Homeland Security has opened an investigation after the Secret Service catastrophically failed to protect former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last weekend. Trump narrowly escaped death after a bullet went through his ear while he was speaking at a lectern. The shooter was positioned on an unsecured roof just 140 yards away from the stage. The DHS Inspector General has also opened an investigation.
Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill have also launched separate investigations and have called on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to testify on Monday, July 22.
According to House Speaker Mike Johnson, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is attempting to block Cheatle from testifying. Johnson called on Cheatle to resign during an interview with Fox News Wednesday morning.
During remarks at the RNC convention in Milwaukee Tuesday night, Johnson vowed to get to the bottom of what happened.

Okay, maybe not the best example since the Warren Commission was in charge of the coverup. Which, by they way, is important to remember when people rush to say the Secret Service, CIA, or FBI would NEVER try to take out a President.

It is also important to remember that the CIA boss was a JFK appointee (McCone) and he was totally out of the loop.
It was a former CIA Director (Dulles) who was neck deep in the plot and the coverup.
Btw LBJ later fired McCone over a policy difference.
I leave as an exercise what that policy difference was—and how it related to the JFK assassination.

In one way it might be nice to show this attempted assassination is a democrat hit. On the other hand, it would be a shame things have gone that far in our divided nation.
Meanwhile, in my mind and that of others, it remains to be proven it was not a democrat hit or inside job.
Whoever investigates will be compelled to hide the truth "for the good of the country". I fully expect we will never know anything other than that it was a random act by a disturbed mind made possible by a series of "mistakes" in procedure and communication.
The House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena.
IIRC, Articles of Impeachment for Mayorkas WERE submitted by the House to the Senate.
HOWEVER, Senator Schemer has REFUSED to submit those Articles to the Senate as required by law.
Why? Perhaps because an actual vote on those Articles would embarrass the “open-borders” (”open-pockets”?) Democrats.
IMHO, every future misstep by Mayorkas should cause the original Articles of Impeachment to be AMENDED and RESUBMITTED to the Senate.
IMHO, frequent RESUBMISSIONS will eventually prove as embarrassing to the “Death-to-America Dems as actual RECORDED votes.
This will be a defining moment for the GOP. All talk won’t cut it.
