The UK has become the first European country to approve lab-grown meat to be sold to the public, with the synthetically developed protein expected to appear on the shelves as early as this year.
British regulators have given the approval to UK-based firm Meatly to begin selling its lab-grown meat as dog food to the public. The approval paves the way for taste-test trials with dogs to begin for its new pet food, which will include proteins derived from cultivated chicken cells.
The co-founder and CEO of the startup, Owen Ensor told The Telegraph on Wednesday: “The European Union has traditionally been a more conservative regulator and the US is getting embroiled in food politics – unnecessarily, in my opinion. So the UK can really step up here.

EU has BY FAR the strictest standards, regulations and limits on things like - organic growing, GMO containing-foods, origin testing and labelling, and pesticide residue testing. All done in the name of “purity,” and natural food, consumer awareness
Yet they are moving ahead on approving “lab-grown meat?”

There is a seies of you tube videos depicting all sorts of fake chinese foods including many meats. China ia already way out there in the lead

The one and only time we ordered from Chick-fil-A it was so disgusting the dog growled at it and refused to be anywhere near it much less eat it.
Maybe vegans, too. Funny how they try changing everything to taste like meat and some will even eat Pork ‘n Beans and order pepperoni pizza but toss the pepperonis in the garbage that’s how much they love and respect animals.

What are you talking about? This is the UK (remember Brexit?). And dog food at that.
Not saying it’s impossible in the EU some time in the future (probably in the name of “saving the climate”). But not anywhere near yet.
Of course the headline is misleading clickbait. “...for Public Sale” - when it is not for human consumption.
