With those 10 words, in response to Friday’s apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre sent Canada’s propriety police into one of its trademarked tizzies.
“Leaders don’t celebrate death,” Harden said of Poilievre’s remark. “We work for community safety.”
An “insane thing to say,” was left-wing commentator David Moscrop’s reaction.
Former Alberta MLA Thomas Lukazkuk called it “irrational” — “revenge over due process.”
“While others appeal for calm, Poilievre rejoices in retribution,” Globe and Mail columnist Andrew Coyne observed on X.
[Poilievre] says things in hopes his opponents’ overreactions will make him look sane in comparison, and it works with alarming regularity. It’s like he and his team understand their opponents better than their opponents understand themselves ...
That “happy he’s dead” statement was no gaffe, so there’s no point lecturing Poilievre as if it were. It was very deliberately put in there in full knowledge it would elicit the reaction it is currently eliciting...

Will wonders never cease? We've literally seen miracles happen — Trump getting three Supreme Court picks in four years, then watching as those three justices were the key to overturning Roe v. Wade, then turning his head a millisecond before an assassin's bullet would have blown his brains out.
Whenever someone survives a brush with death this close, it's a sign that God has something important that he still to do.

I truly enjoy watching Poilievre in action. I'm not so sure he's a doctrinaire conservative, so much as a man truly grounded in rationale, logic and common sense (which would invariably lead to many conservative conclusions).
The more reasonable and rational he behaves, the more his opponents' absurdity and foolishness gets highlighted by contrast. It's like he merely holds his fist in the air and his opponents come and smack their faces against it.
Poilievre is certainly winning me over!
He does have Maxime Bernier trying to pull anything left of the “right” over to him, so that is helpful as well.
I cheerckled (I just made that up lol because I cheered and chuckled) when I read that line. All he needed was to be chomping on an apple while saying it!

No, buddy, leaders don’t tolerate evil or mourn its death. Those who do are as evil as the evildoers they protect with their lacrimose servility. Saying you work for community safety is a sick self-delusion, at best.

That said, tho, it would have been helpful to have him alive and threatening to tell who paid him. He’d never be allowed to tell, of course, so long as BeijingBiden is in WHouse. But, it would make for some useful questions by PDoocey to the Muppet.
* Has Crooks told anyone yet who in the WHouse told him to shoot?
* How much is the WHouse going to save not having to find a Jack Ruby to take this Crooks guy out?
Such questions/accusations are important. They will deny, of course. But, they have lied on absolutely everything else. Putting the questions out there will focus attention on the source of all the violence and hatred.
