Maybe instead of us continuing to hear this stuff through leaks, it would be nice to hear it from, I don’t know, a Secret Service press conference?

The police are actively looking for him but officers on the ground likely ASSUME — incorrectly — that the rooftops can be seen by the snipers. The snipers see no one in places where they can see.
Not until someone points them to the rooftop and they see the access, do the officers on the ground go in that direction. Snipers can’t see him because he is defilade on the reverse slope - a blind spot for them.
Crooks already knows what his field of fire is going to look like when he pops his head over the top and starts to sight in Trump. Takes him only a couple of seconds from popping over the top to squeeze off 3 hurriedly aimed rounds.
I’m GUESSING that when Crooks head first appears above the ridge the sniper doesn’t see a rifle and that’s why he doesn’t shoot immediately. Probably doesn’t have much of a target until Crooks lifts himself high enough to bring the rifle over the top to take aim.
ALL SPECULATION based on reporting and what you can see from various videos.

I don’t believe anything that deflects attention from the planned failures that was the assassination plot by our Government.
Step by step through the operational planning checklist and highlight the failures and responsible persons/plotters.
No 5 ft ladders, roof slopes, range finders, yard signs, vans, peekaboo police, it’s all BS.

Ok, why he never showed up is one question. Why he wasn’t replaced is another question.
As many have observed - we have either unimagonably incompetent Secret Service, OR a sloppy, poorly orchestrated attempt to assassinate President Trump, which included some inside security people (though how high up the chain it went is impossible for us to know).
Both scenarios are unthinkable.

You forgot the part about carrying around and then positioning a step ladder to get access to the roof... and not being noticed, unless, the step ladder was already placed there FOR HIM ahead of time?
