Thomas Crooks scrambled onto the roof and opened fire was the staging area for the local police tactical team that was watching over the crowd, two law enforcement officials told ABC News.
The two counter-snipers on the roof, who took out Crooks, were wearing “Police” vests, not DHS or USSS vests.
This guy proves my point in that wearing just tshirt and shorts, he was able to successfully conceal his full length AR, make his way unnoticed into the event, all the way up onto the roof without the AR even printing in his tshirt, or shorts.
So, this proves that a long gun can be used effectively for concealed carry. /s
They already have.
A recording played this morning on Chris Plante’s Show (WMAL Radio, DC) said the bldg was the locals’ responsibility, and out of the SS’ crowd & safety mgmt slot.
It was fixed to the building
“””Thomas Crooks scrambled onto the roof and opened fire was the staging area for the local police tactical team that was watching over the crowd, two law enforcement officials told ABC News.”””
Sure looks like ABC is providing cover for the SS. SS has said they were not responsible for anything outside the immediate rally area.
There was a low shed attached to the building. There are videos of people pointing him out to the police while he climbs from the low building to the roof of the bigger building. The question is with so many people pointing out the guy crawling onto the building, why didn’t the police do anything?
So did he access the roof from the inside of a police staging area? What in the world?
This entire thing stinks to high heaven. We have two choices:
1. The agencies involved are so inept, they allowed a pimple faced, twenty year old kid, to climb up the side/roof of a building, with a rifle, gave him time to set up, and waited until he pulled the trigger within plinking range of Trump before they engaged.
Or
2. They purposely allowed the same.
Not true. Uniformed SS officers have “Secret Service” printed on the front of their ballistic vests, and “POLICE” on the back. (Do an internet search for “secret service uniforms.”)
“2. How’d he walk into the area with a rifle?”
I’m no expert on staging high level security for events but as I look at the aerial photos of the scene, it seems to me as though the shooter would have approached the GRS building from the back parking lot.
Regardless of whether the area was a staging ground for local LE, doesn’t it seem reasonable to have a few officers posted in that area to check on anyone approaching it?
Two choices:
He brought it with him and walked through the lot to the building.
Or
He stashed it in the area just as soon as he knew Trump would be there.
It has been confirmed the rifle was his Dad’s gun. So unless Daddy is in on it, we have to assume he brought the rifle or stashed it, and it wasn’t given to him by a third party.
.
There was a second Cop told, and he had no interest.
Maybe someone knew and trusted Crooks.
Thank you for this clarification.
Regarding the ladder:

Thank you for noting this.
ALL THE MORE REASON TO HAVE SOMEONE WATCH THIS BUILDING.
Remember nobody notified the Secret Service agents on stage what was going on on top of the building for two minutes...
Zero chance that was a “mistake”.
The conspirators controlled the communications.
On that street view I didn’t see a fixed ladder behind the trees. But I did see a lower roof (~8 feet tall) and a pile of pallets nearby. One could be dragged over and leaned against the short wall to get up.
“That might have added to the confusion over who the guy on the roof with a rifle really was.”

Not likely because the snipers would certainly know where all occupied elevated positions would be. If they failed to coordinate basic information like that, then the whole bunch should be fired.

Exactly. Easy access, should have been watched.
He was also approached by a local copper. Hired murderer pointed his rifle at the copper — who promptly retreated. So, why did the copper not get behind a corner and fire several shots into the air? That would have gotten everyone alarmed and the SService snipers pointed in the right direction. He didn’t have to be a hero, just not on the murderer’s side.
Were local coppers so bloody incompetent that this did not occur — or so wrapped up in Trump hatred that they behaved like the Uvalde coppers?
SS’s job!
