The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside of the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting.
Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according the New York Times.
The Secret Service was only tasked with covering the grounds where Trump’s rally took place, with local police being recruited to assist with those efforts and secure the area outside of the rally.

SS can delegate responsibility but SS cannot delegate blame.
Dan Bongino has a scoop info— there were very few actual Secret Service agents there at the rally to protect Trump. The bulk of the team there were.... DHS “security” people— not trained or anywhere near the standards of the Secret Service. This DECISION came from the head of Secret Service— a former Pepsi Security person (the Cheetos Division) Ms. Cheatle (whom Bongino says should be fired btw).
Ms. Cheatle works for Alejandro Mayorkas head of DHS. They have not been inside the Treasury Dept. which is where they should be right now since 2003 the “reorg” that GW Bush came up with idiotically to prevent security disasters by forming the “Homeland” Security. An equally stupid name taken from the UK notion of the “Home Guard” from WWII. Just... lame. No higher security clearance than the Secret Service under the Treasury Dept agency— wonder what it is now they are diminished by this added gift along with TSA from GW Bush. We ‘feel’ so much more secure.
Bongino tomorrow should be an high powered show.
I think you just described the assassination plan.
All the SS guys on stage had to do was step up to the stage , surround Trump and escort him off stage to safety and nobody would have been hurt.
First time in history that an armed assassin has been watched by body guards move into position, set up a rifle to shoot person they are protecting and take a shot before taking any action.
If these stories are true, and they certainly seem to be true since we have several minutes of video of the shooter, the person in charge of the SS security team literally stood by and watched and waited for Donald Trump to be shot.
Why not? It’s gubmint. No accountability.
This is NOT how it works.
SS is responsible. If you have another agency filling in gaps as a mitigation strategy, you still have to ensure it’s being done.
Finally, not securing the main rooftop where I shooter could shoot, is NOT a great idea to delegate. The SAIC could have assigned one CAT member and this never happens.
As I predicted last night
Was anyone expecting the feds to accept responsibility for their own actions? Look at their boss chomo. He blames Trump for everything bad.
Yeah, otherwise, why go there. You wouldn’t go there and mill around the crowd with your rife, checking out to see what rooftops were not secured. You might accidentally get arrested. But let’s say you did do that, for some unaccountable reason, where would you get a ladder? Would it just be your lucky day that you found an unsecure rooftop and a ladder to climb up there? There must have been planning involved, and that usually requires another person(s).
Passing the buck.
Such total BS!!!! There is 1 man (person) put in charge. In this case it is the secret service Special Agent in Charge.
While I don’t have SS training, I have been trained on the Infantry Company in the defense, which is basically what they were doing. After determining the mission, the #1 thing you do is identify key terrain. That is not rocket science. Roof tops are key terrain. Failure to account for this is blatant incompetence.
I was a J3 in a multination Special Operations Task Force, there was 1 commander, and he directed the operations. Failure to assert command authority is a mission failure.
I hope you got your peanuts back when you exited the building, :)

Incredible as it may seem, it's beginning to look like the most rational and plausible explanation for this "security failure" is this was a Biden Administration DHS planned hit on President Trump and all the failures were intentional.
And the scary thing is, if Trump had been killed, they would have gotten away with it.
can’t resist posting this about blame-shifter Gugliemi:

Exactly.
I believe it was the SS that gave him those ROEs, and that’s who he was informing of the situation. Trump should have been surrounded ( small-statured agents notwithstanding) immediately, and told to get behind the shield.
More than one person.
And you don’t have them involved in more than one action.
"We have an integrated mission of protection and financial investigations to ensure the safety and security of our protectees, key locations, and events of national significance. We also protect the integrity of our currency and investigate crimes against the U.S. financial system committed by criminals around the world and in cyberspace."
"The Secret Service never works alone. We accomplish our full mission through robust partnerships with local, state, federal and international law enforcement agencies and the private sector."
Seems like they're "tasked" with the whole job.
