** The shooter was likely outside the venue ** The shooter was on the right side of Trump ** This was not a pistol used by the shooter ** Likely a 22 Long Rifle – likely semiautomatic ** The 22 Long Rifle is effective up to 200 yards ** It appears no one else was shot on the stage ** The audience was looking to their right after the shots were fired. ** Bullet was in a deceleration range

So many gun experts here why have none of them actually studied the lethality of the 22 long rifle, there are plenty of YouTube videos that will help you out.
By the way the 22 long rifle is the weapon of choice for deer poachers, even tho most states demand at least a 30/30 not even the M1 Carbine qualifies even tho there were many enemies killed by that weapon. When I went through basic training I think we had to at least fire every infantry weapon in service. I was even demanded to fire a rifle grenade, from the shoulder standing, that will make a man of you.
Sundry thoughts.
1) 200 yards is not an easy shot with a 22lr. The attempted assassin had some training on the weapon.
2) I couldn’t make that shot with my 1022. This weapon would have been an upscale one.
3) Chipman (ATF wannabe) did not consider a 22lr, even a semiauto, an assault weapon.
.22LR, lol? No.
Oh. 22lr is perfectly lethal, even at range.
I have an old rangefinder on one of mine. One day, I shot a coot at 200 yards. I must have aimed two feet over.

Some guy on YouTube did long range test on a ham with multiple layers of clothing on it, yep lethal way further than the purists want to admit. It is one multi-purpose weapon that I wouldn’t be without. It can kill any animal in North America by a good hunter and it is dirt cheap to own and fire. I have an M1 carbine for same reason but ammo for that is not dirt cheap, so get a 9 MM carbine for a little cheaper bang.

agreed but there are more lethal rifles that could easily make that shot. Somebody screwed up, maybe an accident or intentionally.
