Of the many names bandied around, most meet the first qualification. It is the second that filters them out. To win the election will require adding Indpendents and wayward Democrats. Trump doesn't need to shore up his MAGA base.

Gabbard is best choice. A former Dem, aligned with Trump, will bring wayward Dems and independents, is a veteran, a person of color for those that care, and is a woman. Everything helps expand the MAGA base.
