Donald Trump has yet to name a running mate. Here's a look at who might be on his VP shortlist

With the Republican National Convention slated for next week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, all eyes are on who former President Donald Trump will select as a running mate.

Trump recently told reporters he had narrowed his vice presidential shortlist to a handful of possibilities. However, Trump's campaign has, on more than one occasion, cautioned that anyone "claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying, unless the person is named Donald J. Trump.”

I’m voting for Trump regardless of who his running mate is. Period.

You sure about that? 46 Presidents, 13 were V.p and 7 due to death, 1 resignation. Looking at a 28% of presidents being vp.

Trump doesn’t need her to win. She could even cost him some votes from his base. Then there’s that small detail that she stands for nothing other than whatever she thinks will advance her career.

I think Governor Sarah Sanders is more conservative and more articulate than anyone on the list.

Governor Sanders would be a really great choice. I’d love to see Trump pick Sanders or Gabbard.

I think it’s Vance. I prefer Tulsi but Trump did the vetting.

He’s picking Richard Grenell. He is devoted to Trump, will blow up the LGBT vote for the dems as the first homosexual vp and likely president, and will lose my vote with regard to perverted marriage and pervverting evetything a people ought stand for, but who ever would care about my vote and those Catholics like me, so there it is.

There are a few people and groups that would cost my vote as well. Picking a homosexual, for one. Picking Ramasammy, for a second. Most everyone else I can live with.

But, but, but: Well, there's the Constitution: Two Florida residents can't share a ticket (though Rubio is reportedly willing to establish residency elsewhere).

How does a Senator or Governor of the State of Florida establish residency in another State and still maintain their current offices?

Disagree, the 12th Amendment only prevents an elector from voting for both the President AND the Vice-President if they are both from the same State (Florida) as is the elector. This means that said same State elector could only vote for President OR Vice-President, not both. In a blow-out election it would not matter, but in a close 2024 electoral election you might have a situation whereby you get Trump as the 47th President and a Democrat Vice-Presidential candidate elected as Vice-President instead of DeSantis due to the large decisive number of Florida’s 30 electoral votes in 2024.

I wish he’d pick Rand Paul as his VP.

I’m an independent. Gabbard would make me less likely to vote. No one else on that list would have that effect.

By that thinking, it might be Lara Trump.

Not with Trump’s endorsement will he be doing that. And Rubio‘s already got state legislative experience, clearly far more qualified to be state governor, than Gaetz.

I did not know that. He should be able to, because he was very good.

Ric Grenell is a good man. Loyal to Trump and this country. I had been thinking he might be the VP choice as well. He’s got experience and is a very even-keeled, and was well liked at the State Dept. I’m not sure he wants the job though, don’t know.
