The need for stability and experience should eliminate the young MAGA-in-a-hurry types like Sen. J.D. Vance or Members of the House.
As the GOP convention nears, and voters focus on the election, the race remains closer than it should be given Mr. Biden’s infirmities. Swing voters still worry about Mr. Trump and the possibility of four more years of turmoil. The former President can help his campaign, and the country, by projecting stability and calm.
We know many readers will think this is impossible, and maybe it is. Yet he showed admirable restraint after the debate last week, letting Democrats implode, until his profane golf-cart outburst.
The opportunity is there to present a reassuring alternative if Mr. Trump wants to take it. And he has a timely opening to send that message with his vice presidential choice in the next week. Now leading in the polls, he doesn’t need an attack-dog VP or someone to rally his core voters. He needs a choice who shows mature judgment and has the ability to appeal to anxious and undecided voters.

What is a MAGA Conservative (vs a regular conservative) and who in the VP race would fit that category?
#1 Loyalty to Trump #2 Help him win the election = Dr. Ben Carson.
I think Gabbard is a possibility. Watch her 15 minute speech from the most recent Faith and Freedom Conference. Listen to the crowd’s reaction to her.
I absolutely agree. Michael Flynn would be my choice.
He needs an attack dog so he doesn’t have to.
Didn't know that. I have nothing against Hindus, but we're seeing right now how much power a political spouse can have.
And there's something about JDV himself that doesn't sit right ... I don't know what it is.
Thank you.
I think goes back to racist Democrat hero Woodrow Wilson was start the slow decline in our liberties, throw in the pussification and bleating during he depression that was on our great grand parents looking for help from the Gubmitt. We get the government we deserve. Take out WW2 and that generation was “The Worst generation”..not the best. We are still paying the price for it.
Ramaswammy won’t help. Heck, he’s on record wanting to disenfranchise voters under 25. He’s a fraud who has mastered MAGA talking points and that is about it. He has zero base and brings no one except the few people who already like him. And that is not many.
Apparently people who can't sleep love him, and people who want grape extracts.
And Christians don't have their problems? How many Hindis have you interacted with? Would you also like to exclude Sihks because of their scary turbans?
“...until [Trump’s] profane golf-cart outburst.”
Profane???!!!! They must be unaware of what the evil old fool says about Trump daily.
I have never seen more profane remarks from democrats and MSM whores lately.
The vile, disgusting little worm adam schiff referred to Trump as an SOB yesterday on Meet the Press. Is that profane?
And all of a sudden WSJ clutches their pearls over something Trump says. And what Trump said doesn’t approach what the rest of us say.
“Anyone with a brain knows this.”
How would a brainless person like you know that?
MAGA would die a quick death with that homo.
Agree in part. Another poster wrote about her being Hindu and that being an issue in a Christian nation. I have to agree.
I mentioned women or blacks. A lot of people here don’t like Vivek, but I do and I’d add him to the list, though Elise Stefanik is my first choice
I like all three, but Steyn is a Canadian on and Sowell is 94.
How about Hunter Biden. The women seem to like him.
I’ll still say that Trump needs to think outside the box. Any establishment Republicans won’t move the needle on Independents and soft Democrats.
He needs to try and tap into that crowd to help get over the finish line. May not be needed, but the higher the votes he can pull, the hard the stealing and cheating will be. And there will be cheating, and we know the GOP doesn’t have the fight within themselves to address it.
I’ll still go on record as saying I think Tulsi could be the person to help get him over the finish line. I know Ben Carson is a favorite of some, and we know his credentials, but he also seems too much a nice guy and not someone I’d want in a real scrap of I had a choice.
His VP doesn’t have to be the heir apparent. If it does, he should pick DeSantis. He should at least not pick someone that will lose him huge numbers of conservative Christian votes such as Stefanik (social liberal) or Vivek (Hindu).
