PARIS (AP) — A coalition on the left that came together unexpectedly ahead of France’s snap elections won the most parliamentary seats in the vote, according to polling projections Sunday. The surprise projections put President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance in second and the far right in third.
The lack of majority for any single alliance plunged France into political and economic turmoil. Final results are not expected until late Sunday or early Monday in the highly volatile snap election, which was called just four weeks ago in a huge gamble for Macron.
The deeply unpopular president lost control of parliament, according to the projections. Marine Le Pen’s far right drastically increased the number of seats it holds in parliament but fell far short of expectations.
The snap legislative elections in this nuclear-armed nation and major economy will influence the war in Ukraine, global diplomacy and Europe’s economic stability.
France now faces the prospect of weeks of political machinations to determine who will be prime minister and lead the National Assembly. And Macron faces the prospect of leading the country alongside a prime minister opposed to most of his domestic policies.
The projections, if confirmed by official counts expected later Sunday or early Monday, plunge a pillar of the European Union and its second-largest economy into intense uncertainty, with no clarity about who might partner with President Emmanuel Macron as prime minister in governing France.

Various parties on the Left over the last month banded together to form a "The New Popular Front" which is a coalition of Socialists, Ecologists, Communists and France Unbowed (LFI) Parties, after President Macron's Party "Renaissance" did very poorly in EU elections and Macron called a snap election last month.
The New Popular Front coordinated removing smaller or less-popular candidates from its various member parties, to give the most popular candidates a chance to defeat Le Pen's "National Rally" Party, which did quite well, but also could not achieve a majority.
This New Popular Front will not have a majority, so will likely argue among themselves, but like all radical leftists, have already declared for open borders, allowing more immigrants, pro-criminal policies, etc...
Expect France to become quite chaotic.

No. The reports from last week were written by idiots that can’t do simple math.
Last week the National Rally (RN) party won 34% of the vote. While this is obviously far short of the 50% needed for control, it was more than any other single party. So everyone over here starts jumping up and down yelling “the right won - the right won”.
Looking at the reality of the situation, as opposed to trying to make it a single number, in some areas the RN won by a solid majority. In other areas they had as little as 20-25%, that being the highest amount out of 5 or more parties.
In the new runoff election the RN didn’t gain much support from people who were previously supporting candidates now excluded from the race. Parties on the left however strategically had candidates drop out where the vote was being split and ensured that all liberals would vote for a single candidate.
So the French didn’t change their minds at all. RN never had a majority. They were the leading minority party in some areas, but lost the runoffs, as was expected.
Either way, France is done, you can see the Islamists have total control of France now..now they can do whatever they damn well please and get away with it..when the left doesnt get their way they riot, when they win they riot
