Hurricane Beryl barreled across the Caribbean, made landfall along the Yucatan Peninsula, and is forecast to make landfall in SE Texas.

Many thanks NN - Texas can always use the rain in July.
Hurricane Season is one of only two seasons that Southerners care about. The other being SEC football season.

Thank you as always for your updates, NautiNurse. My family is heading to Marathon Key in Florida in about a week for some vacation time. Hopefully the ocean will be calm for us.
Thanks! Every update moves it close and closer to Houston. The farther north it goes, the more time for development. I’ve been nervous about this storm since last week. A strong Cat 3, on the wrong path, could do a TON of damage to the Houston area.
With the hurricane season starting so early, I fear Florida will not escape.
they don’t have an understanding of the system.
I also think there’s a lot more variables in the ‘weather’ ecosystem than doing the math to determine when the eclipse will happen.
Down to TS, but don’t let that get you complacent.
Hurricane Camille, a Car 5, spun up in two days...............
CAT 5...............
The Euro model this morning (latest currently available) is now targeting the Matagorda Bay area for Monday morning around dawn — that’s the bay between Port O’Conner and Matagorda city to its North.
They are looking at a 970 mb central pressure at landfall... that’s maybe a 95-100mph storm.
GFS is clinging to something S. of Corpus Christi at 994 mb, which would be at or below hurricane strength.
...and it appears the 18Z models are now rolling in and the tracking images are auto-updating in a manner that’s moving Beryl further North.
Thanks for the post, NN-Here in Texas, rain in July is a blessing, so my fingers are crossed...
Hi NautiNurse, nice to see you again.
If Beryl moves a little more to the north things might get interesting here on Galveston Bay.
As of now, a direct hit to corpus. Projections keep moving north. Corpus, rockport, poc, etc are all in target at this rate.
Hiya, jpsb! There is chatter about a more northerly track dependent on when and how quickly the storm turns. Either way, north of storm center is the dirty side for a TX Gulf landfall.
Odd looking developments north of the Yucatán?

Looks as though this will simmer down until it gets more fuel from the Gulf and then ramp up.
Chocolate season is upon us, FRiend!
Thank you for your faithful posting.
Indeed. got great rain today!
