Former first lady Michelle Obama is the leading candidate to take on former President Trump in 2024, according to a new poll conducted after last week’s presidential debate.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll asked respondents who they would like to see take on Trump on the general election ballot amid calls to replace the current nominee, and President Biden was bested by both the former first lady and his own vice president.
When respondents were asked who they would vote for in a race against Trump, the poll found that Obama was the only Democrat to secure enough votes to beat the former president on the general election ballot.
In the hypothetical matchup, the former first lady led Trump by 11 percentage points, receiving 50% of the vote over the former president, who was the choice candidate of 39% of respondents.
The poll showing Obama leading the Democratic candidate pool comes after the Washington Post reported that her husband, former President Obama, recently told supporters that Biden’s road to re-election has become more difficult since Thursday.

Of course if she does decide to run, the media will do its best to prevent any scrutiny or criticism of her--anything negative will be branded as racism or sexism. But they may overestimate the nostalgia for the Obama years. The basement strategy won't work in 2024 so the public would get to see the kind of person she is.
I don't believe that she really has an 11-point advantage over Trump now. Remember the Bradley effect--people may feel they have to tell the pollster what the pollster wants them to say.

Officially, it would be Michelle. Actually, it would be Barack, and everyone on both sides knows it. She doesn’t “want” to run? I bet they both have a lot of ‘debts’ left to pay to those who took them from nowhere-ville to the White House.

The only reason Michelle has any following is that the media has pumped her up for years. Just for this occasion. Barack Obama is behind that for sure. He wants another term and that is essentially what he would get. In fact I believe he is calling the shots now. So in a sense that would be his forth term. Obama did so much to divide and destroy this country. And there is not a good thing about his wife either.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone could EVER vote for her. I’m from Illinois and have never been impressed. That’s my opinion.
Even Hillary knew enough she couldn’t immediately go straight from First Lady to president without that New York senate seat to have a serious run at it.
That said, we all know how much she hates this country and very well take a shit at transforming it into an abomination she envisions.
