Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that Vice President Kamala Harris should be supported by Democrats “whether it’s in second place or the top of the ticket.”
While discussing President Joe Biden’s future after his highly criticized debate performance, Mitchell said, “Congressman, how would you feel if there is a decision for him to step down? If he decides that and he has to decide that, or if the party pressures him to do that, how would you feel if they worked around and try to go around Kamala Harris because of her lack of high poll numbers and popularity and broadly based? Or do you think it is hers to have if it’s not his?”

Perhaps, but Clyburn is a Biden partisan who Biden owes tons of favors and debts to.
Clyburn is a dude who really wants to collect on his markers which can only happen if Biden is office.
Pushing Kamala is win win for Clyburn.
If Kamala actually makes it, she makes good on Clyburns markers.
On the other hand, Kamala is Biden’s impeachment insurance and most Americans would rather chug chewing tobacco spit by the gallon than vote for Kamala .
So pushing Kamala is a clever, passive aggressive way for Clyburn to have it both ways - he gets to try to keep Biden on the ticket by pushing the unacceptable train wreck that is Kamala as the heir apparent while also supporting Kamala with an insincere endorsement so he can ride the Kamala train if she manages to get elected
If the Dems bypass Kamala the black voters will be furious and stay home.
