Democrats implied Monday that former President Donald Trump could pursue his political opponents, legally, if he returns to the White House, following the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity in Trump v. U.S.
If Trump ever becomes president, immunity wouldn’t matter.
What does matter – American people should start to understand the authoritarian rule which this decision stems.

There’s s/t in the SCOTUS Immunity ruling that says that courts cannot judge the intent of Presidential actions, based on assumptions or hypotheticals.
So, to me, that means that if Trump calls Ga and asks if they can “find 10,000 votes,” then that is not evidence that Trump called Ga and asked for 10,000 illegal votes.

That ought not deter us though. Congressional and executive investigations can create a public record of the facts needed to establish civil liability in spite of immunity claims. Moreover, there are bright, eager conservative lawyers who understand or can learn the plaintiff side of civil rights claims. The key will be to find the deep pockets and law form support to make such work possible.
It would serve them right, because that’s exactly what they have done. But Trump didn’t go after political opponents in his first term. He’s unlikely to do it in his second, so they should STFU.
