Ukraine war will end in surrender
Asia Times ^ | 7/2/24 | STEPHEN BRYEN

The Ukraine war will end in a surrender, not in a negotiated deal. That is my sense of where the war is headed and why the parties cannot negotiate a settlement.

The latest wrinkle in the missing negotiating saga is a declaration in the form of an interview given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In the interview, Zelensky said there can’t be direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia but there could be indirect negotiations through a third party. In Zelensky’s proposed scenario, the third party will serve as an intermediary and any deal will only be with the intermediary, not between Russia or Ukraine. Zelensky suggested the UN could act in this role.

However, the Zelensky proposal is a non-starter for many reasons, but the biggest one is that warring states need to directly agree on ending a conflict.

There is no hope of a third party implementing any deal, as the failed Minsk agreements (2014, 2015) proved. Minsk was a hybrid case where the deal was signed by Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Ukraine refused to implement the deal and the OSCE proved toothless and unwilling to try and enforce the Minsk accords. The deal had political backing from Germany and France, although neither was a signatory nor legally obliged in any manner to support the resulting deal.

Russia violated the Minsk agreements. Now that is ridiculous propaganda given that Angela Merkel and François Hollande both admitted that they encouraged Ukraine to sign the Minsk accords and renege on it.

Hogwash. Ukraine kept attacking and shelling in the east and refuse dto pull back heavy weapons. Also, the powerful nazi militias are on video, threatening Zelinsky to his face that if he implemented Minsk they would hang him from a tree on Kreschatik street in Kiev.

Minsk would have satisfied the Russians. Autonomy for the Donbass within Ukraine, no ethnic cleansing and language and flower laying laws... and they would remain Ukrainian.

But as Merkel and the Frog said, Minsk was just a fake to give them time to build up a Uke force.

Too late now, the Donbass is gone and the Russian Duma voted them into the Russian federation. They have Russian passports now.

But deal emotionally with whatever story with you want. LOL

The lack of discernment and intellectual honesty here on FR today is more like the old DemocratUnderground we of FR use to mock (rightly).

How ironic you'd claim considering Democrats and the left are the ones that agree with you about the war in Ukraine and that you are defending the Biden regime's propaganda about it.

🚨🤣🇺🇦Zelesnky's wife Olena just spent 4.5 million euros of your tax payer money on a brand new Bugatti Turbillon (1 out of 250) in France.

💰An employee of the Bugatti dealership in Paris by the name of Jacques Bertin revealed that the Zelensky's made this purchase whilst visiting Paris on the 7th of June 2024.

At the beginning of June, the Zelensky family arrived with a Ukrainian delegation in France for the ceremonies commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. Apart from official visits, the Zelensky couple was present in other less public events.

According to Jacques Bertin, an employee of the Bugatti dealership in Paris, the manufacturer's representatives organized a special presentation of the new car two weeks before the public announcement, which took place on June 20. Olena Zelenska was impressed by the new car and placed an order, becoming the owner of the first of 250 cars planned for production. Jacques Bertin expressed his admiration for Olena Zelenska and said that he and Bugatti were very proud that Zelenska is part of the Bugatti family.

⚡️ Russia is making another real peace proposal today — President Putin

Conditions for a peaceful resolution:

- A neutral, non-aligned, demilitarized, and denazified Ukraine

- Rights and freedoms of Russian-speaking citizens

- The new Russian territories must be recognized

6:42 AM · Jun 14, 2024

Any questions?

“Ukraine war will end in surrender”

I don’t think the Russians are ready yet to surrender.
No, once they run out of tanks, the artillery and production factories come on line, and they are vastly outnumbered by equipment and aircraft, then they will be willing.

Peace, losing your own soil in a lost war of aggression(surrender), or thermonuclear war. That about covers Putin’s options right now. I don’t think Russia is ready to surrender, they have always proven that they are willing to suffer incredibly first.

Ceasefire in 6 months.

There will likely be a civil war in what's left of Ukraine after that.

Russia is creating specail untis to deal with insurgents. They know their craft well and preparing up to 250,000 additonal troops, now that they have their required combat quota to defeat Ukraine.

China transferred an A20a transport, and the Russia’s are retrofitting both Chinese and Russia Mega Transports to carry FAB9000s or 16 FAB3000s. After a few of these air strikes Ukrainian soldiers will probably start laying down their arms.

10 x FAB3000s exceed the power of the Hiroshima bomb. If they fly two - three bombs runs a day with 2-3 aircraft, this war will end in surrender with 48-hours.

Absolutely correct. Putin said he prefers Biden.
What a collection of losers we have here kissing Putin’s butt.

Real conservatives are focusing on Trump’s election and the Supreme Court rulings.

These characters are busy spreading Russian propaganda.

Of course they support Biden and not Trump, just like Putin.
