The Heritage Oversight Project has identified three swing states – Georgia, Nevada and Wisconsin – where they believe removing Biden from the Democratic ticket would prevent anyone else from replacing him.
Wisconsin does not allow withdrawal from the ballot for any reason besides death, while in Nevada, no changes can be made to the ballotafter 5 p.m. on the fourth Friday in June of an election year unless ‘a nominee dies or is adjudicated insane or mentally incompetent.’ In Georgia, if Biden were to withdraw less than 60 days before the election, his name would remain on the ballot but no votes would be counted.
According to a draft from The Heritage Oversight Project obtained by the Daily Mail:
Three of the expected six most contested states have some potential for pre-election litigation aimed at exasperating, with legitimate concerns for election integrity, the withdrawal process for a presidential candidate.
GA, NV, and WI, have specific procedures for withdrawal of a presidential nominee with differing degrees of applicability and timelines.’ WI does not allow withdrawal for any reason besides death.”

On a very serious level - they need to be sure that Trump’s security is flawless. I think all the demonization by the media and the realization that Biden is the only chance they have will prompt some crazy to assault or attack President Trump. It is a nagging fear, and I think it is a heightened risk as the opposition sees the likelihood of a Trump victory in November elevated. Be careful out there!
These election rules are not set in stone. An agreeable state legislature and an agreeable governor can quickly change the law.
We saw that earlier this year in Ohio.

there was never a problem with getting on the ballot
did they time the convention purposely to make it more difficult to replace biden?

This wouldn’t be a problem for the Dems in Georgia or Wisconsin. With Big Gretch a possibility on the ticket, Evers would move heaven and earth to get “emergency” legislation passed and signed. Georgia isn’t any better, Kemp is practically a never Trumper and would do whatever it takes to save the Democrat’s bacon.
Nevada, maybe. Lombardo is a centrist squish, but he’s also a good guy, with a sense of justice. But with the composition of the Nevada Leg., they could probably override a veto if they had time.
The best hope, IMHO, is that the power-mad Democrat pretenders have the knives out for each other this weekend. Whitmer, Newsome, Harris, and the Obamas are circling Joe like a cackle of Hyenas circling a sick water buffalo. They’re not worried about Joe himself, but they will be looking to maximize their own power as Joe exits the stage, one way or another.

But, the convention isn’t until August so technically he is not on any ballot.

In Canada, liberals willingly lose elections so that conservatives have to eat unpopularity in order to try and fix the damage that liberals do.
They may have decided to let Trump win the election so he has to eat the unpopularity that that the Democrats have built up in order to fix things.
This doesn’t make any sense. He is not the Democratic nominee until the convention, so who put his name on the general election ballot already?
If this were true (which I don’t believe) you could never have a contested convention because someone (who?) would choose to put one of the competing candidates on their State ballot before the convention even started.
The Democrats even considered moving up their convention to meet the cutoff for putting the nominee on the Ohio ballot.
