Russia summons the American ambassador over a deadly attack that Moscow says used US-made missiles
ABC News ^ | June 24, 2024 | The Associated Press

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the American ambassador on Monday to protest what it says was the use of U.S.-made advanced missiles in a Ukrainian attack on Russian-annexed Crimea that reportedly killed four people and wounded more than 150.

Washington “has effectively become a party” to the war on Ukraine’s side, the ministry said in a statement, adding, “Retaliatory measures will certainly follow.” It did not elaborate.

Kyiv’s forces have relied heavily on Western-supplied weaponry since Russia’s invasion more than three years ago.

In reality though, it is the US State Department that is holding the delusional view. Crimea is fully integrated with Russia, and was even before the current conflict started in '22. There are no hard borders and all people live under Russian civil government administration. Virtually every single person you speak to will tell you that they are absolutely happy under Russian governance, and you might even find a bunch of people who have moved from areas like Donetsk and Lughansk in order to have a better, more stable life.

If you go there, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that 'this is Ukraine'...except maybe if you drive off of the modernized Russian road network and into the boondocks and encounter some of the heavily neglected old Ukranian infrastructure that hasn't been replaced yet.

They wouldn’t have that problem if the Russians didn’t seize Crimea in 2014.

It’s that kind of comment that ignores all but a small slice of history
and is then presented as a straw man argument.

For that reason, I can’t help you.

Best.

The US have invaded multiple countries over the last 50 years, at least a dozen. While we targeted military persons and infrastructure we killed 10s of thousands of civilians.

Why is it our business to stop Russia from doing the same?

It really boils down to the simple question: What are the US interests at stake in Ukraine?

If you answer that I’m happy to continue the conversation.

The Chinese, Korean and Iranian-made projectiles used for deadly attacks on Ukraine, should, by this line of argument, also be a casus belli against those countries. Fortunately (for them?) Ukraine has too much on its plate dealing with Russia at present, because of the ordnance they have sold Putin.

Nobody but a Russian sycophant thinks those “referenda” were free and fair. A vote with thousands of armed Russian soldiers standing by, even counting the votes? Please don’t insult our intelligence. The ballots in Crimea had two choices: Annexation immediately, or annexation in a couple of months. Actual turnout there was less than 30%, which of course was not reported.

Claims that those provinces “voted for independence” are Muskovite horsepoop. You are proving once again that you are nothing but a mouthpiece for Putin. “A finger on the claw of Sauron”, to coin a phrase.

Let’s talk about the tens of thousands of Ukrainian children and adults whom you forcibly deported into the Russian interior to make the “Russian” proportion of the population more favorable. Let’s talk about how you forced ethnic Ukrainians to get Russian passports, or face deprivation of driving licenses, jobs, housing, professional licenses, even medical care.

“What’s America’s cultural contribution to civilization? Hollywood? Elvis? McDonalds?”

Yep, and we’re proud of it.

“I suppose if yo see a mugger attack an innocent person you would say that was none of your business. An intenational war monger with super power attributes is a danger to everyone on the planet and it is definitely our business.”

Pollyanna agrees with you!

Mostly because neither of you knows it’s a non sequitur.

How is it that you accept Biden’s election but ignore the vote totals coming from the newly liberated territories of Eastern Russia 🇷🇺? Feel free to support your argument with links rather than hysteria. Why not start with the children removed from the range of Kiev’s artillery fire to safety?
