IIRC, the States of New York, Rhode Island, and Virginia reserved the right of secession, in writing, when they ratified the Constitution. However, the subsequent adoption of the 14th Amendment (which states in part, "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States") likely limits any State's right to unilateral secession.

This is not serious. If anything, though, Vermont and Hawaii have had more talk about secession than New Hampshire. The New Hampshire proposal was to secede if the national debt got to 40 trillion. The proposal was voted down by a large margin. If anybody does try to get out of their share of the debt, yeah, there could be a civil war.

That is absurd on its face. There have been and always will be threats from bad actors around the globe. There is no “good” time for secession.
If anyone really cared about “bad actors” the borders would have been closed to illegal invaders and kept closed.
If California seceded, that would solve the problem.

I thought the issue of secession was settled in 1861-1865 and Texas vs White in 1869.
Now if ALL the states seceded from Washington D.C. would be another matter....

The entire Bar watched without comment two violently illegal showntrials in kangaroo courts against a former president and current candidate. at first the idea sounds good, but then you realize that is is simply kicking the can down the road like what is happening with Christian denominations.
The left has to be defeated, you can split off and run away, they simply find you wherever you go and start chipping away again.
Once this starts, it will be more than 6. You will see the entire Midwest and east coast south of the mason Dixon line with exception of Illinois, Maryland, Delaware, and possibly Virginia. It will impact interstate travel, defense, and interstate commerce including oil and electricity generation. DC would be in a terrible predicament with millions of confederates with modern weapons at its door step.
