Is This Our First Look At Russia’s New Monster Glide Bomb Striking Ukraine?
The war zone ^ | 22 Jun 24 | Joe Trevithick

Posted on 06/22/2024 11:49:29 AM PDT by delta7

Russian forces have begun employing massive 3,000-kilogram (6,600-pound) class FAB-3000 M54 bombs turned into stand-off weapons in Ukraine it has been claimed. If true, this could present a significant new challenge for Ukrainian forces given the amount of destruction power such a weapon could deliver while also helping the launch platform stay further away from Ukrainian air defenses.

At the same time, questions have already been raised about what aircraft might be able to employ FAB-3000 M54s converted in this way and the size of the available stockpile of the bombs, all of which could limit their actual operational utility.

The Fighterbomber channel on Telegram, which has close connections to the Russian Aerospace Forces, shared a video, seen below, earlier today purporting to show the first combat employment of a FAB-3000 M54 fitted with a UMPK-series glide bomb kit. UMPK modules consist of a pop-out wing kit and a guidance package, as you can read more about here.

The FAB-3000 is one of, if not the largest conventional general-purpose high-explosive bomb in Russian service today. There is no direct U.S. military analog, with the largest of the three most common sizes of bombs American forces employ being in the 2,000-pound (900-kilogram) class, or less than a third of the size….

…. Whatever the weapon is, it clearly has significant destructive power, causing major damage to the apparent main target and completely leveling three other buildings. Other structures in the area also show signs of being damaged to varying degrees……

Thanks for the correction. We need more MOABs, don’t we?

Whatever...

I support the immediate elimination, with extreme prejudice, of every gain of
function bio-lab on the planet.

Thanks to our provocative and admitted funding of dozens of them in Ukraine,
we find ourselves on the brink of World War Three, and it should be no surprise
that once again, Nazis are involved. (Along with war mongering homosexuals. Again.)

Russia now seems to have to most military experience in the elimination of
War provoking Gain of Function Bio-Labs, thanks to our major contribution
to this mess. So Thanks, Russia.

Russia is still a backwards country with a third-world economy, and the only thing they can brag about is their nukes

Okay. What the heck does that say about the US and NATO who have thrown everything they have at the Russkies for over 10 years and are losing?

I know what it says, and you should too if you have half a brain.

“Putin go the go-ahead from the U.S. and NATO”

I’ll not comment further.

Find out the number and purpose of BSL-4 labs, tomorrow morning, after a good night’s sleep.

Our Freedoms, our claims to our part of the natural rights of man, as enumerated and declared in our Constitution, can only continue to be secured by our ongoing fidelity to that pact and the form of government that it established. I’m not interested in fighting for “democracy”; I prefer our Constitutional Representative Republic as the way to secure rights and liberties . Global adventurism, and the tremendous loss of life and treasure that accompany it, are not in our interest.

Just another go round in an ancient Eastern European blood feud that has ZERO to do with us. These two have been at each other's throats since before there was a United States and they'll keep going at each other long after we're gone.(and if Trump isn't back in office. we're done). I could give a rip for the Russkies or the Ukes. Two scorpions in a bottle as far as I'm concerned.

It depends on the size of the wing. In my glider I can go 44 miles for each mile of altitude. The wings on a glide bomb will be smaller due to constrictions of the maximum wing length that can be carried beneath a fighter bomber. A ratio of 15 to 1 would be reasonable. Thus 5 miles high could easily be 75 miles of glide distance.

No thanks.

The number is too many, too close to Russia.

The purpose was most honestly outlined in the Georgia Guide Stones.

The cost of freedom is not small

Freedom? Is that your word for fomenting Revolutions to overthrow democracies and killing disenfranchised voters?

When it comes to intrinsic wealth, Russia is likely the richest country in the world.

Water, arable land, timber, oil, gas and coal...innumerable minerals. They have it all.

That is why the west lusts for dominion over it.

I know what a bomb is, but WTF is a glide bomb?
———
Soviet Russia had mega tons of standard dumb bombs. The RDX and explosive mix is stable and lasts for decades. They took these beauties and affixed GPS guidance systems, added fins, and made mega tons of precision bombs. Launched from high altitude bombers, 80 kilometers away , drop them and they glide down ( high glide ration- Russian engineering) to the target plus minus meters.

Boeing Defense tried it, but failed for many reasons. So, in effect , Russia has huge quantities of précision guided bombs for pennies. The 3,000 lb was just rumored, till now….and our Pentagon is in panic….best news? They are rumored to be developing 6,000 pounders.

That said, the explosive power rivals small nuke yields…..nuke results, in a conventional bomb….look out Paris, Brussels, London….yes, Johnny, Vlad still holds all the cards….keep poking the Bear.

I think the people behind the Georgia Guide Stones have a different view of
the “purpose” of all these bio-labs than the government narrative declares.

We accidentally discovered the Chinese operating one in California. Are we checking other States that coincidentally have China “friendly” Governors?

Probably not. Nobody seems to take these things seriously except Russia.

Russia adheres to the principle of Drill baby drill while the US has muzzled its mighty energy industry. If Russia is a 3rd world nation, what does it make the US?

“ Go Vlad, NATO and senile Joe war cheerleaders need a black eye-”

So you are pro Russian and anti American?
Ok, not much to argue about there from your post .
Maybe a move to Russia should be in your future.

Thanks. Very informative.
But why do we have the gall to call Russia a 3rd world country when they make better Vodka and Caviar than we do and they do not allow themselves to be invaded by headhunters and cannibals like we daily do?

“The Soviets built a glider which carried a small tank.”

The Soviets had a design where they just put wings on a tank.
