When Putin said he dreamed of rebuilding the Soviet Union, he also said it would be madness to try.

Nope, you need pics of the CIA and Nuland running the coup to overthrow the legitimate unaligned government in Ukraine in 2014. That’s how the warmongering neocons forced NATO down the Ukes throats. That’s how NATO started this CF ten years ago.

I can understand putins paranoia about Ukraine joining NATO, but I still stand by the idea that the invasion of Ukraine was more about the last opportunity to expand Russia and show that Russia is relevant as a world power

NATO has been on Russias border for years with Poland, Lithuania ,Latvia, and Estonia and there was no war. Russia was trading and getting richer(at least some were) during that period. There was no chance that Finland or Sweden would join NATO. Then PUTIN invades(again). Where was the “viable national security argument “ for Putin?

As to threat to Europe, the argument that Russia was not militarily or economically capable did not exist until after the 2022 invasion and the performance of Russian military was displayed, and economically? I still see multiple threads about how “well” Russian economy is doing. GDP is up, look at how well Moscow abs St. Petersburg are doing….

How has the “average “ Russian benefited from this earth modify you question?

I can see how Putin may have thought Russia was going to be invaded once the “big dog” of Ukraine was admitted into NATO, but show meany indication that was in the cards

Europe was demilitarizing, MIC was declining, Europe was trading and becoming ever more dependent on Russia for energy, Russia was getting richer and was a leading exporter of military goods. Finland and Sweden were neutral

This war is stupid and is a terrible waste of live, resources, and property, but it could all have been avoided if Putin had not invaded.$

NATO was just another way to waste taxpayer money.

It should have been disbanded in the 1990s

No. Went immediately from being sufficiently pissed at the conviction that I would vote for Trump, to being "nope, leaving that line blank." Will never vote for someone who supports appeasing Russia. Ever.

Way to hold your chin up Biden voter.

Way to put Ukraine's needs ahead of the United States.

NATO didn't "expand" dumbass. And you believe this FSB troll's X post?

Why did Poland, Finland and Sweden join? For the same reason Ukraine wants to join

RUSSIA IS INVADING ITS NEIGHBORS.

They are invasions of conquest, adding territory to the Russian Federation.

Russian victory is Russian plunder and destruction:

"Oh, but NATO expansion..."

You are a moral fraud.

Should war break between the US and Russia I hope you are arrested for sedition and treason. And sentence executed upon your pathetic, cowardly ass

What do the Czars, the Soviets and Putin all have in common? They want[ed] the Russian empire to assume what they believe to be it’s historic borders. Putin wanted Ukraine one way or the other and would have invaded regardless.

You should probably just stay away from any career in politics or diplomacy or any other profession that requires one to put on their big boy pants.

There is no freedom of speech in Russia so such a “link” is not possible for general population until it is free. But if you live there like I did you know everyone is trying to leave as soon as they can.

Not even the wealthiest oligarch children want to live in Russia and that says it all
