Pro-Israel Protesters Flock to Defend L.A. Synagogue Targeted by Pro-Palestinian Mob

A large group of pro-Israel counter-protesters rushed to demonstrate outside a synagogue and Jewish school targeted Thursday in Los Angeles by a mob of pro-Palestinian activists.

The confrontation began earlier Thursday, when the pro-Palestinian activists showed up at the school in Valley Village, an area with a large Jewish population in the San Fernando Valley region of L.A.

A large group of pro-Israel counter-demonstrators then came to the school to face off against the pro-Palestinian activists. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrived and separated the two groups on opposite sides of the street.

Synagogue is in a residential neighborhood. Nice area. Clean. Big houses & wide streets. Little graffitti. Sidewalk full of men and their sons walking on Saturdays with the black suits, hats, ropes [don’t know the correct names] with their wives and daughters nicely dressed - nice looking families.

Valley Village. It’s over the hill from Hollywood not far from Burbank or Sherman Oaks - the north side of Highway 101 and west of the 170. Not far from Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. Lots of Jewish people in that general vicinity. I grew up not far from there ages 3-12. My next door neighbors were Holocaust survivors, they had their arms tattooed. Extremely nice family and last I heard a few years ago they were both still alive.

In my little town of about 150 homes, a Polish Jewish family lived across the street from us The next neighbor was a Hungarian family and their next door neighbor was a Polish family. All camp survivors. Those college fascist come to our town they will get a hard welcome.

LA is a big city. LA county has around 10 million residents. Quite ethnically diverse, we’ve got everyone. If I took you around the block visiting my neighbors where I live now it would be like walking the Epcot food exhibit. But that aside, you attack a religious day school and you are the one asking for trouble. If it were a mosque or a black church it would be national news.

Though if I recall, the JDL - Jewish Defense League - was founded in LA back in the day. They’ve either disbanded or gone silent. And there are also a lot of Israelis in that particular neighborhood. So not totally surprising a few people are on alert.

No idea why these ignoramases thought marching on a synagogue and day school was a good idea. You wanna protest, go to city hall. You want trouble, go pick on a religious or ethnic group. You just don’t do that in LA you will be met by the other side in force.

JDL was founded in NYC in the ‘60s by Meir Kahane. There was an LA guy that headed the group after Kahane moved to Israel. They still have a website, but have been inactive for years.
