A federal appeals court panel on Thursday rejected longtime Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon’s bid to stay out of prison while he fights his conviction for defying a subpoena from the House committee that investigated the U.S. Capitol attack.
Bannon is supposed to report to prison by July 1 to begin serving his four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, who was nominated to the bench by Trump, earlier this month granted prosecutors’ request to send Bannon to prison after a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit upheld his conviction.
Bannon’s lawyers had asked the appeals court to allow him to remain free while he continues to fight the conviction all the way up to the Supreme Court, if necessary.
Bannon was convicted nearly two years ago of two counts of contempt of Congress: one for refusing to sit for a deposition with the Jan. 6 House Committee and the other for refusing to provide documents related to his involvement in efforts by Trump, a Republican, to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss to Joe Biden, a Democrat.

“US Capitol attack..” I hate the Murdochs...
Bannon - and hundreds more - are political prisoners.
You’d think we’re living in a third world Banana Republic, huh?
That legal appeals stuff is only for Democrats.
Not for common people.
Of course the main person who got Trump in the white house next to Trump himself, is fired by Trump mere months into his presidency because the dems were saying bad things about him and Trump kept all the other losers who stabbed him in the back proving yet again his lack of discernment about people is nil. Could have hired him back to navigate the election steal just as Trump said it would happen, but no he let the demos convince him Steve was a bad guy. After Trump said “we caught them red handed”, well maybe Bannon would have known what to do. Trump could have hired him as his campaign coordinator again and then the dems could be shown to clearly interfering with the election, but no Trump knows what he is doing.
So I guess you’ll be voting for Biden this year then? ... given Trump is so horrible and all....
The people still believing the Courts are only interested in the Law and dazed and crazy.
Tired of losing?
If Trump hadn’t loss to the imbecile voting for Biden wouldnt be an option would it? Trump demands loyalty and yet he left Bannon twisting in the wind. If he had an ounce of discernment, he would have apponted an AG who would have stopped the steal. If he had used his brain or appointed advisors with one, he would not have fallen for Ryans promise of money for the wall lie, as Ryan knew it would never get past the senate, everyone knew it was a set up and Trump fell for it, then said “I’m not going to sign another bill like that” and then promptly did the next year with no shut down. He let the dems run circles around him let every other republican. The judge that shot down Bannons appeal was a Trump appointee!!! What does that say about Trumps picks?
You make it seem like Trump was just incomptent. He had everyone in DC working against him. And I don't remember anyone here saying Sessions or Mattis or Kelly were statist plants until they turned out to be statist plants. Burt until then everyone thought they were great.
I don't think any president in modern time has had the government just refuse to take orders from him, and investigate if relentlessly instead. I can't blame Trump for not foreseeing that unprecedented reality.
You make good points. The people you named. I thought were good too.
The democraps are the ones who “overturned” the election when they stopped counting on election night and counted their mail in ballot dumps in the swing states with the windows of the counting centers papered over.
(The judge that shot down Bannons appeal was a Trump appointee!!!)
Two of the three judges in the appeals court rejected the bid to delay the prison sentence. But judge Justin Walker, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, dissented and claimed that Bannon was contesting a “close” precedent, and should be allowed to remain out of prison while he appeals the verdict to the Supreme Court, according to CNN. .
Thanks for checking that..
Mayorkas recently defied a subpoena from a House committee...when is he going to prison?
You’re welcome!
Hi,
Robert Mercer was his single biggest aid to winning in 2016.
He was responsible for Pres Trump hiring Bannon.
He was an immense contributor.
Most importantly his technology enabled precise targeting in the swing states to get people to get off their rear ends and vote.
Where’s Mercer at these days?
He’s supporting Pres Trump.
I read a piece recently on BBC about the few billionaires supporting our side and he was listed among them.
Off the top of my head-Adelson, Wynn, Sacks, Schwartzman, Ackman, Mercer, Pelzt (despite at one time saying no), Paulson. (I’m missing a few names)
Thiel was the one guy that stood out as missing.
