MIAMI (AP) — Former President Donald Trump said in an interview posted on Thursday he wants to give automatic green cards to foreign students who graduate from U.S. colleges, a sharp departure from the anti-immigrant rhetoric he typically uses on the campaign trail.
Trump was asked about plans for companies to be able to import the “best and brightest” in a podcast taped Wednesday with venture capitalists and tech investors called the “All-In.”
“What I want to do and what I will do is you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically as part of your diploma a green card to be able to stay in this country. And that includes junior colleges too, anybody graduates from a college. You go there for two years or four years,” he said, vowing to address this concern on day one.

I would rather give green cards to those who complete a trades apprenticeship program and a thorough background check.
Bad. Student visas are not permanent immigrant visas. And they will compete with American citizens for jobs.
This is a chamber of commerce Paul Ryan plan. No wonder big business is siding with Trump for the election. Not only do Americans compete with illegals with work, now they will get to compete with fast tracked foreigners, joy.
This country exists for its citizens—not its businesses and their desire to have the cheapest wages.

As well as already too many applying to and grabbing up admissions spots in our universities. Green card diploma will quadruple applications, Chinese standardized test cheating, and bribes.

I do remember George Will proposing just that 30+ years ago. He’s not one of us but I agreed back then. He also suggested a planeload of passports for the citizens of Hong Kong before it was turned over yo the Chicoms.
If these foreigners did not hate the US before college, they sure do after college.

Wrong move Trump unoless it’s in exchange for repeal of the LBJ/Kennedy 1965 open border immigration act.
As it should. If Trump won't stand strong on immigration, and "Making America America Again," what does he have to offer otherwise? This should be a non-negotiable issue of first importance.
I guess Ramaswamy got to him. Trump is so, so weak in so many ways.
