If these systems were so invested in helping Black communities, they would commit to that notion materially. They would put their money where their mouths are.
But we as Black Americans know better than to expect that.
So each year it’ll get worse. More red and green will seep into marketing flyers. More “partnerships” will develop. More logos stamped on the backs of our shirts.

Not a day off for me. But back in the day ... when it was only a Texas thing ... state government employees got the day off. This is nothing new.

The DEMs really don’t need to pander to black Americans. It is now firmly in the DNA of black Americans that anything related to Republicans is evil.
Once again, we see that organized "blackness" in America is dedicated to the proposition that "Whitey is evil; kill whitey, rape his women, and steal his stuff".

So what does that make for government holidays now? 10? Add that to starting vacations its now up to 4 weeks of PTO not including sick and personal time.

I wouldn’t necessarily call Juneteenth a “great cause,” but the following quote seems appropriate when applied to the gradual departure from Juneteenth’s original intent.

We need another black national holiday. We only have two of them.

Blacks in this country in general may be THE most racist group of people IN this country.
And that comment is a great example.
Stock exchange, post office and mail delivery, banks, credit unions closed.
Americans honor and celebrate Juneteenth in our own, heartfelt and sometimes private ways.
Others call in the cops when neighbors’ brawl and fire a few dozen rounds at each other in a residential neighborhood.

Last year, the holiday was announced via company wide email. This year, nada. I’m at the office and there are no festivities. However, there were leftovers from yesterday’s lunch, which is catered nearly every Tuesday.
And go back to Africa where she belongs.
