Letters to the Editor: The Supreme Court just made it easier to massacre Americans
LA Times ^ | June 18, 2024

Posted on 06/18/2024 5:07:18 AM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

To the editor: This past weekend, I called Central Texas Gun Works in Austin, Texas, and spoke with an employee. He informed me that as of June 15, it is again legal to purchase a bump stock. ("The Supreme Court went out of its way to ignore common sense on bump stocks," Opinion, June 14)

The owner of that business sued to make these "accessories" legal again, saying the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) went too far in banning the sale of bump stocks. And, the Supreme Court agreed, striking down the federal regulation in 6-3 ruling.

While I was told by the employee that the store did not have any of these semiautomatic rifle enhancements in stock, I could buy one online for $350. Yes! For just $350, anyone can purchase an add-on that offers the capability to shoot 400-800 rounds per minute. That's just what our nation needs: An easier way to massacre.......

Elizabeth Osborne, Santa Barbara.......

The Supreme Court issues a 6-3 decision in a case โ€” any case. We immediately know who made up the six and who were in the three without knowing anything about the case itself.

So don't tell me the justices are not politically motivated.

Larry Macedo, West Hills

They use them in movies all the time. No reloading necessary. Specially the ‘protagonist(s)’. Also, they don’t need bump stocks. Apparently everyone runs down to walmart and picksup uzis and mac10s

Why would this be so devastating?

The Left thinks that Americans are MEGELOMANIACS and want to kill people...no they don’t...they want to protect themselves from those people who want to kill them.

See the difference??

“The Biden Admin’s open border policy has made it easier for Americans to be massacred.” There fixed it.

Little Larry should stop wetting his drawers and ask his congressman Brad Sherman why he hasn’t presented a bill in the house to pass a law outlawing bump stocks.

The answer is simple. The rats know anti-gun laws are very unpopular with their constituents, and they would rather have the issue than the solution. Who thinks banning bump stocks will lower the murder rate in LA County? It didn’t for the past 4 years.

Itโ€™s political, but not in the ordinary sense. Conservative judges tend to share a world view and concept of the judicial role that is very different from what liberal or conservative judges believe. And the gun stock case was not based on the Second Amendment. It was based on whether the regulation in question was compatible with the statute that Congress wrote. In fact, Justice Alito practically begged Congress to pass a law banning bump stocks. My guess is that this will happen after the November election.

The great fear of violent leftist mobs like Antifa, is that regular Americans could be armed and unwilling to allow their homes and businesses to be burned down by rioters.

Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution outlines the missions of the militia. “[T]he Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.” The Second Amendment describes the militia as “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State.” Given that our employees use automatic weapons to perform missions like those described in Article 1 Section 8, we, the people (who make up the militia) have the “right to keep and bear” the same “Arms” as they do. The NFA passed in 1934 could not get around this and had to rely on the taxing power of the Constitution keep the people from buying the same weapons as their employees use. Personally the NFA infringes on the 2nd is my position, and is unconstitutional. Mao the murderer, was correct when said “political power grows from the barrel of a gun.”

It's far easier to purchase a lethal hand gun than it is to buy a non lethal silencer.

It took me about 25 minutes to purchase a hand gun and 7 - 9 months till I get my silencer.

Deep State’s Potemkin SCOTUS issued this ruling to try to goose lefty turnout.

For no other reason.

Exactly.
When I got the chance to fire a number of weapons with a supressor, I decided to add it to my list in the future.
Not having to wear muffs was very nice.

Enough ARs with bump stocks would have stopped October 7th.

And October 7th will be here before you know it.
