On Friday the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law established by Congress requiring the deportation of foreign nationals who illegally enter the country. It's a blow to President Biden's lax enforcement of deportation laws.....
The illegal aliens sued. They demanded that their deportation orders be rescinded. They claimed that they didn't receive proper written notification. They also made technical arguments, such as challenging the definitions of the word 'change' in the order they received. In other words, they were hoping to stay because of technicalities in their paperwork.
A majority of Supreme Court justices didn't see it that way. The vote was 5-4. Justice Alito wrote the majority opinion. Chief Justice Roberts, and Justices Thomas, Kavanaugh, and Barrett concurred. Justice Gorsuch joined with Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson, Sotomayor, and Kagan in the dissenting opinion

Why’s Gorsuch in the dissent? He’s not Soutour-ing or Roberts-ing out, is he?
!
No. Gorsuch is solidly conservative constitutionalist. On textualism issues, he’s like Scalia (hardly a leftist) on the text & meaning of Congressional law. This wasn’t a solid left/right issue. I get it- we want a specific outcome no matter how we get there. If you do that often enough, though, you establish precedent & it turns around & bites us š
šØš³ jo will ignore this as he has all other SCOTUS rulings.
No he is not! He’s rock solid. He’s literally saying here that Congress wrote this into the law, which is stupid (if not impossible) & Congress needs to either alter or get rid of the provision mandating illegals receive specific notice as a preliminary. It’s the same kind of response that Antonin Scalia would have. They are chiefly worried that if the courts are forced to step in because Congress wrote an impossibly stupid law, then the courts are forced to do Congresses job (write sane laws that can actually be accomplished) & risk making the courts be activists. It’s sensible. I think at this point that’s wishful thinking, but in a system that’s supposed to be run correctly by decent human beings hes correct š
Will the Biden administration carry through with these three deportations?
Maybe they will fall under Biden’s amnesty for those who will benefit from his announcement tomorrow. As long as laws are not followed and illegal aliens sue the United States with impunity to stay, it is a magnet for more to come. Nothing will change until we get a new president.
Will the Biden administration carry through with these three deportations?
Biden just ignored the ruling that he couldn't forgive student loans by himself.
Absolutely right!
It’s factually what happened. Illegal aliens vs Merrick Garland. Garland won.
OK, factually.
So maybe ‘logically’ you are correct too.
My apologies.
(but I’m glad the illegals and Biden lost - in effect)
What’s curious to me is why Biden admin (which is pro-illegal immigration) even challenged it in court.
No he isnāt heās a complete fraud from top to bottom
The man bought a failed drug, a drug that had failed testing 3 times and. lied about it. Had his mom āreinterpretā the results of one of the tests ( throw out the failing data) then ran around pitching it to investors and made himself and his family rich then and only then released the next round of testing that once again showed it didnāt work
The man is a snake oil salesman and a complete fraud.
He backed companies that wanted the government to have complete access to your medical records for COVID tracking etc etc
The man is a fake, he is a con man, just tells audiences what they want to hear but when you dig in you see his actions donāt match his rhetoric..
Heās. A FRAUD, top to bottom Fraud
As soon as President Trump is sworn in.
He will act immediately to remove the violent criminals FIRST.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ICE will be doing yeomans work. I hope they send them back by the train load.
>Whyās Gorsuch in the dissent? Heās not Soutour-ing or Roberts-ing out, is he?
Worse, he’s not Constitution-ing (we all know/expect that from the Lefty activists on the bench)
Sometimes I wonder if a judge will go with the counter opinion when they know the side they are really on is going to win the decision.
This as a way to avoid the appearance of being set in their ways.
