Summer 2024 is likely to be one of the hottest on record in the United States, according to an updated outlook released Friday by The Weather Company and Atmospheric G2.
The heat will be widespread. Above-average temperatures are expected from the Southwest and Rockies to the East Coast, with parts of the Midwest, Plains, northern New England and the Southwest being the most above average.
"We've run out of superlatives to describe what we expect as an historic summer." - Todd Crawford, Vice President of Meteorology, Atmospheric G2 The lone exception may be the West Coast, from western Washington to Southern California. Temperatures there could be pretty typical for summer as a whole, running slightly above or below average.

So, it’s likely to be cooler than some earlier years. Alrighty then. Must be all my recycling.
So, ‘not the hottest summer on record’ is another way to interpret this title. I won’t believe we’re truly in a crisis until officials seriously start talking about nuclear energy. That’s the only proven source can run cities and power all of these electric cars and also be carbon free. The technology is doable and proven. But, no one seems interested. If the planet were truly in peril this would be priority #1. But, the planet is not in peril as everyone knows...beyond the fact that the sun will one day burn out. That cannot be prevented....even my the Democrats.
I live near Memphis. I have ac and a pool. Just like any other summer.

My Husband and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary on June 9th. The Day we got Married it was 109 degrees at high Noon. This year in a location 80 Miles away, it was 62with Howling winds from the south, we live in Assholechusetts.
This is Crap.
It’s pretty hot here west of Tucson, a few days around 110 and we’ll get some hotter still. Just like every June.
1980 was brutal. I worked for the TX Highway Dept. filling potholes with hot tar that summer. Burned the soles off of my boots.
1953 was a piss-cutter in Chicago area in case these idiots only remember back to the 1990’s.

My wife’s at our North Idaho place — had her winter hat and gloves on at the dog park today. She turned the heater on in the house last night, too. Brrrr.

NOAA, NASA, et al had ‘updated’ the temperature record. Back in the day of simple thermometers, people only wrote down where the mercury rose, or fell. Nothing as ‘precise’ as today’s instruments. So....The ‘updated’ temperature record indicated....

Joe Bastardi- a real professional meteorologist of more than 40 years give a Saturday Summary free video every Saturday. The most recent give the exact data you posted. We are re-visiting the same weather patterns of 1936. Heat in the Plains and Midwest up into NE. Same weather, pre-WWII.
Also explains the potential low pressure tropical storms/rain going to finally hit Southern Texas Coast
as well as the Atlantic Ocean low pressure ridge streaming in this week into Jacksonville, FL and across S. Georgia- rain and wind events. Been very dry in GA so should soak that up. FL is in a drought.
It’s not summer yet. Spring tends to be cooler.
Do you expect it to in the spring?
I predict temps will be in the 50’s in November.
I looked at Minneapolis weather 55422 for the summer and it is mostly in the 80’s this year. By August it will be in the 70’s. It should be in the upper 90’s and low 100’s with 100% humidity.
I’m telling ya it is GLOBAL COOLING a coming!!
