Forever War: Zelensky, Western Leaders Reject Putin Ceasefire Proposals at Swiss Peace Summit

Western leaders rejected Vladimir Putin’s framework for a ceasefire while backing Ukraine’s demands that Russia return all occupied territories as the basis for any potential peace agreement.

The “first annual Global Peace Summit” held in the luxury Swiss resort of Burgenstock, which did not include any representatives from Moscow, concluded with the status quo essentially remaining the same, with Ukraine continuing to demand that Russia cede territory in the East and Crimea as a prerequisite for actual peace talks to begin, a likely non-starter for Vladimir Putin.

According to pundit Alexander Mercouris, Zelensky privately organized that Peace conference, sending all the attendees invitations behind the scenes, to bolster his reputation as the legitimate President of the Ukraine.

He felt the need to do this since Putin has said Zelensky is no longer the legitimate president after he canceled his people's elections indefinitely under martial law.

Putin has said recently that he will no longer attempt to negotiate peace with Zelensky as he is no longer the legitimate president.

So Zelensky was behind the peace summit, hoping to make it look as if he was invited by member nations as the natural head of the Ukraine.

Biden didn't attend, which likely signals his handlers willingness to negotiate on behalf of the Ukraine as Russia wants.

The NYT and other publications say that Russia was not invited to the peace conference. I think Zelensky didn't want Putin to decline with another public statement saying Zelensky is not the legitimate president and that Putin will negotiate with the West. It's as if Putin is saying he will negotiate with Zelensky's puppet masters. Also, the Ukraine is losing the war and yet demanding their due as triumphant winners; Putin doesn't expect to 'play along' with that ruse.

78 countries at Swiss conference agree Ukraine's territorial integrity must be basis of any peace.

And worse, Ukraine could most likely have kicked Russia out of Ukraine if we had given them the necessary arms and support to actually win

Very true. Most of Russia and its military bases is still off limits to attacks using US weapons.

Odessa is, at this point, operationally as far away/unlikely as the Ukrainians taking Rostov.

Hmmm Eastern Ukraine A main language is Russian

Yup, we speak English in the US, so I guess we would welcome back the English Monarch. Really?

EVERY poll in Ukraine before 2014, showed majority of ethnic Russians in Ukraine wanted to stay united within the country.

The territory was a Soviet Republic until 1991

So Poland has no right to exist? ruZZian world view.

Interestingly that was the Soviet line over and over from the 1930s on. Not whenever it didnt suit them, such as in 1941-45, but they kept coming back to it.

Its rather fascinating how many of these tropes/memes were inserted by Soviet “influence” operations over the years. They usually outlived their designers and the state they worked for.

The azov brigade

The Azov Regiment of 2022 bears little relation to the ragtag militia the Azov Battalion of 2014, formed from a few dozen football hooligans, and – yes – far-right extremists.

Crucially, in late 2014, Azov was absorbed into the Ukrainian National Guard, allowing greater state oversight, with considerable attention paid to cleansing the ranks of far-right elements, in what should be recognised as an example of successful deradicalisation.

-----------

Gotta give you credit dude, you push the Ukraine war mongering talking points and propaganda line relentlessly.

We could have had a very positive and effective impact on the Ukraine conflict with massive and decisive support in the very early days of the conflict.

Biden did not do so for the same reason he (or more appropriately , his handlers) torpedoed a very favorable for Ukraine armistice agreement at the very start of the conflict. Biden and NATO wanted a long and bloody proxy war in Ukraine to bleed d Russian troops and attrit their weapons stockpiles.

We know this because they are record as saying so. Heck , they didn't just tell us this , they openly bragged about it.

Regardless, that ship has sailed long ago and the Ukraine is now a lost cause.

The only open issue now is how bad the terms are going to be for Ukraine to end it. And they get worse every day we delay because the Ukraine is losing negotiating leverage to get he best deal as every day passes.

Using advance American long range weapons to attack the Russian territory is an overt act of war against Russia by the United States and NATO that could result in very bad things happening to the US, to NATO and to the Ukraine.

“LOL, you forgot to mention Putin’s other demands, Ukraine disarm, never join NATO, de-nazify, Russian language gets official status.”

EU was fine with Putin. As to de-nazifying, I guess that depends on what people think of Nazism. Ukraine disarming brings them back to the status before the Neocons destroyed the country, same with never joining NATO.

Russian language becoming official - that is what’s called a HUMAN RIGHT. Israel has 3 official languages, Canada 2, plenty of other countries with more than one official language. But it does lead back to the de-nazifying - as the Nazis in Ukraine are quite clear that they want an ‘ethnically pure’ country because, well, that’s who Nazis are. By the way, Russia has ZERO LAWS against the use of the Ukrainian language.

Yup, and Speaker Mike Johnson and Intelligence chairman Michael Turner is being paid by "Biden and neo-cons". Okay

Speaker Johnson backs call to let Ukraine strike targets in Russia with U.S. weapons

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Wednesday backed fellow lawmakers' call for the Defense Department to allow Ukraine to use U.S.-provided weapons on military targets within Russian territory

Why it matters: The Biden administration banned the use of U.S.-made weapons to strike inside Russia in an effort to keep the conflict from escalating, but some have criticized the embargo for restricting Ukraine's ability to effectively defense itself.

A group of bipartisan representatives led by House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chairman Michael Turner (R-Ohio) asked the DOD in a letter on Monday to lift the embargo.

(they want an ‘ethnically pure’ country)

What’s wrong with that? Japan has been mostly ethnically pure, as well as other countries. As a matter of fact, the first Congress’ first legislation, The 1790 Naturalization Act, specified ONLY White people were to be Citizens of the United States.

Right, so Spanish should become an official language in the US? Idiocy. Learn the damn language of the country you live in.
