The Stanford Internet Observatory, a small but prominent research group studying abuse on social media platforms, looks to be in crisis, according to a report by Platformer.
Some key staff have departed recently, including founding director Alex Stamos and research director Renée DiResta, Platformer reports. A handful of staff have left recently after not having their contracts renewed, and other members have been told to look for other jobs. Platformer describes the turmoil as a “dismantling” of the research group.
Stanford Internet Observatory research centers on some of the most pressing types of abuse online, including threats to democracy and elections, artificial intelligence, and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The group’s cutting-edge, real-time research on content moderation has been cited by news outlets around the world, including here at The Verge many times. Stamos founded the Internet Observatory in 2018 after working as Facebook’s chief security officer, hoping to create more accountability and transparency for issues that touch the tech industry, academia, and Capitol Hill.

I think I know the answer to my question, but not quite sure.
Neva hoid of it.
Stanford's president, like Harvard's, recently resigned due to academic misconduct.
In the case of Stanford's president, the issue was research fraud.
Of course, he kept his job. He's just no longer president.
They set up a group to search for misinformation thinking that it would show overwhelming offenses by conservatives. Since they’ve seen that the Left lies as a normal course of behavior they are shutting it down.
I was thinking they might publish disinformation on the left, kind of a projection operation, though I don’t know that. I wouldn’t think anything non-leftist would come out of Stanford.
Like the white supremacist scourge or all the white on black attacks, etc.
What exactly is “disinformation research” anyway?

Show me the man and i’ll show you the crime.
Updated recently to: show me the man and i’ll show you the lawsuit
“What exactly is “disinformation research”
Not that it needs repeating but I’ll say it......it’s any information that’s not in line with the lefts narrative.....a great example is what happened to anyone questioning whether covid shots were safe and effective or suggested any other therapy would work as well or better.
Stamos and DiResta are two of the worst of the far-left activists who have been weaponizing censorship on social media for the better part of a decade now.
You may not be interested in them, but they are most certainly interested in you.
Keep an eye out for those names. Wherever they land, they will certainly be up to no good.
“The Stanford Internet Observatory studied key issues plaguing online spaces, like election and vaccine disinformation.”
yeah, right, “study” ... really just another “snopes” whose “misinformation” pronouncements guided social media censorship ...
“vaccine disinformation” = anyone pointing out that the mRNA covid vaxes were NOT “safe and effective”
all other “misinformation” = any claims contrary to the official pronouncements of any part of the Federal apparatus operated by the leftist fascist Democrats ...
btw, i’ve yet to see an “official” definition of “misinformation”, which makes the notion of “misinformation” an incredibly powerful and pliant tool for the leftist fascists, since they can pretty much claim anything they don’t like as “misinformation” ...
Horse Paste....
Left accusing the right of doing what the left is doing.
You'd think they could stay in business by making stuff up, but most of that effort is probably focused on election cheating this year.

It's Orwellian double-speak. The Stanford Internet Observatory claims it exists in order to protect free speech and fight disinformation. In reality, the Stanford Internet Observatory is an active distributor/censor of information, and has been identified as being among the top 50 organizations in the new globalist information cartel that has been controlling free speech. That cartel is highly coordinated and directed to make sure only the Biden 'regime's' narratives are perceived as truth.
There is a great article, posted/linked to FR exposing the Censorship-Industrial Complex (CIC) that has been censoring and controlling most of the information we read and share, on behalf of the globalist agenda (i.e, extinction) which includes a section on the Stanford Internet Observatory (also linked below):

Perhaps now that researchers have exposed the website as censors and disinformationists, they've decided to disband. Given it's an election year, they will likely reform under another name.

The NSF is apparently not and deserves cancellation.
Thanks ransomnote, I’ll read this over the weekend.

Aw, shucks. That's too bad. /s
When David Lee Roth was at his best:

Pretty much. And its interesting that the pro-terror, anti-semitism among young progressives is getting pushback from the same Ruling Class that regularly censors any point of view that differs from theirs—usually POV’s that are to the right of Elizabeth Warren.
The Ruling Class has determined that its power and money are threatened by Jewish voters leaving the plantation. So it wants them to shut up or for the media to not cover the worst of them.
That’s not to say the Ruling Class disagrees with them. Just that they think it hurts their money and power.
Interesting. SPLC just laid off a large number of staff. Now this. I wonder if some money-laundering flows are starting to dry up?
Wait. Is this true?
