Done Deal: Biden Locks in 10-Year U.S. Bilateral ‘Security’ Pact with Ukraine
Breitbart ^ | 06/14/2024 | Simon Kent

U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday signed a 10-year bilateral security deal between the two countries in a move applauded enthusiastically by Kyiv as “historic.”

The BBC reports the pact envisages U.S. military and training aid to Ukraine – but falls short of binding Washington to send troops to fight alongside its ally.

According to the White House, the security deal will see Washington and Kyiv work in tandem to build and maintain Ukraine’s defence and deterrence capability, bolster the country’s defense industrial base, and support economic recovery and energy security.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am thinking this means this war is going to continue another 10 years and we will keep throwing money at Ukraine no matter the cost.

Also how will this affect Trump if he gets back in office?

Executive order. Stroke of the pen, law of the land, right?

Headline should be, signed a one year security pact. But the media will play this as though it is the law, especially when Trump reverses it.

All of the NATO countries have signed 10 year bilateral agreements with Ukraine. Symbolic not substantive. Not binding on Trump.

In the old days this was called a treaty, and required consent of 2/3 of the Senate.

But we now live in the age of the imperial presidency. Change the wording just a little bit, and the president can do whatever he wishes. And that includes starting major wars. Vietnam and Iraq, for example.

What BS, Biden cannot make anything binding on the US or future US Presidents...

This is part of biden’s blackmail payment to Ukraine - so they won’t reveal what they have on him.

Plus how many billion for “rebuilding” when the war ends?

This sets up Trump to end the conflict in the bat of an eye. Ukraine then doesn’t need to be in NATO. Putin backs down. NATO countries pitch in for the cost. Zelenski comes clean on the corruption and disappears.

Nothing is binding without Senate approval. Even then it can be reversed.

Meaningless unless the Senate ratifies such an agreement or treaty or if Congress refuses to fund it. The next President is under no obligation to adhere to Biden’s deal with Ukraine.

I don’t see where this is binding...Not without Congress. Biden has no power to do this.

Bilateral as in BINO? Bilateral in name only. Most of their soldiers are dead or critically injured and most of their weaponry is supplied by the US at our expense. They offer nothing if the homeland is attacked, other than shipping us back our weapons if they haven’t already sold them to buy yachts for their political class...unless we can convert them to destroyer yachts for our navy

Not if it is not financed or approved as a TREATY by the Senate. It only lasts as long as the demented empty admin. that put this together. Ludicrous.

The Russians are going to run over the country and have all the time in the world.

If it’s bilateral, does that mean we can deploy Ukraine soldiers at the US border to defend against the invasion of illegal aliens?

At last year’s (2023) G-7 Summit in Vilnius, over 30 Countries pledged to develop bi-lateral support agreements with Ukraine.

17 have signed them (including all G-7 members), and 10 more are in active development.

This is not binding on the next president. It’s a deal between Biden and Zelenskyy and is only valid as long as both of them are in power. It does not carry the force of law.

But the next POTUS can just say, “Yeah, we’re not going to do that anymore”, and it’s over,
just like it started.
