Patti Davis, the daughter of President Reagan, pointed to Hunter Biden’s ongoing trial as a symptom of all-too-common systemic drug addiction, looking less at its political impacts and more about what it says about the pressure of scrutiny and danger of illegal drugs.
“Hunter Biden’s legal case is, at its root, a story about the toxic, careless choices made by a drug addict,” she wrote in a New York Times op-ed Monday. “It’s about the fact that addicts weave tragedy into their own lives and into the lives of those around them. Addicts don’t think about other people; they think about themselves. And they lie — that’s how they supply their addiction.”
Biden, the president’s son, is on trial for gun charges, accused of illegally purchasing a handgun while addicted to drugs. The jury began deliberations late Monday, and the trial has seen a whirlwind of testimony and evidence recalling his drug addiction in salacious detail.

I don’t think Hunter and Ashley got the way they are without help. Ashley said the showers with her dad were inappropriate and believes she was molested, contributing to her sex addiction today. Hunter’s laptop messages call Joe “Pedo Pete”.
Stuff like that messes people up. I remember when Bill Clinton was being impeached, people with sexual addictions were so hoping that it would be a teachable moment, to educate people on some of the root causes of sexual addiction. Unfortunately, politics and power are more important to the world’s movers and shakers than actually helping people. Hunter and Ashley could be forces for good, if they were only able to shake off the allegiance to their Dad’s wrongs. It’s hard to love somebody enough to confront them with truth, and especially in such a political world, but I hope they have the strength to at least find answers for themselves and heal.

I agree with that part strongly.
Some of these drugs are so addicting (to quote yoda even though he wasn’t talking about drugs), once you start down that path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
I think a lot of people who try out some of these drugs were probably already experimenting with others, but they are searching for something that’s missing, discontent about life or problems, or looking for an escape, and haven’t been educated to the destructive effects they are opening themselves up to. They probably think, what could be the harm of one time?
If you valued yourself, and the people around you, you would never willing subscribe for the path you set yourself upon, but that’s where the education comes in.
It seems like we (society) want people to be ignorant. To the effects of addictions. To the effects of terrible choices.
We don’t want mothers to become aware of what kind of life is growing inside of them.
We want people to be ignorant and make choices they will regret, like some kind of systemic schadenfreude.

she’s correct on this and alot of folks have a “Hunter” in their orbit, whether it’s a kid, a sibling or someone else in the family.

It’s always seemed odd to me that he’d want Gavin Newsom’s sloppy seconds, but I know people who know her and assure me that she’s a nice person. As the Romans used to say, “de gustibus non disputandum est.”
