Attorney General Merrick Garland called attacks on the U.S. Department of Justice "dangerous for our democracy" on Tuesday as the GOP-led House prepares to hold him in contempt of Congress.
"Continued unfounded attacks against the Justice Department's employees are dangerous for people's safety. They are dangerous for our democracy. This must stop," Garland wrote in a Washington Post op-ed.
Garland has refused to turn over an audio recording of President Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur for the investigation into Biden's handling of classified documents.
This prompted House Republicans to hold him in contempt.

Mitch gets way too much credit for that. He was convinced Trump had no chance of winning and said so numerous times. He was holding the opening for “The first woman President of the United States”. If he Thought Trump was going to win he would have seated Garland bank it.
This democracy BS is getting old; especially when we are a Democratic Republic. The Constitution established the United States as a democratic republic. It is democratic because the people govern themselves, and it is a republic because the government’s power is derived from its people. This means that our government – federal, state, and local – is elected by the citizens and controlled by them. The Democrats want the elected to control the citizens and want to nullify parts of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments).

Send the House Sgt at Arms to the DOJ to arrest him. Drag him before the Committee in handcuffs and stuff him in the DC jail until he complies. The House has unquestioned plenary powers of arrest. It’s high time they started using them.

Garland has things backwards. Whatever criticism folks have of the DOJ and FBI falls on the responsibility of the DOJ and FBI leaders, for it is their conduct that has brought on that criticism. It is folks like Garland at the DOJ and the FBI that are big threats against Democracy. They could be fine and deserving agencies again, with 100% new leadership at all levels of their organizations.

They always refer to it in the first person plural possessive; to wit, “our democracy”. Such uniformity of semantics amounts to an admission that it’s an oligarchy and they are the oligarchs.
