Florida is so last year — here is the new affordable hotspot people are moving to in 2024

Florida, schmorida.

After enjoying a pandemic-era boom where many a weary northerner packed up and moved to the Sunshine State, the bloom is off the citrus tree, new research suggests.

In 2024, apparently, it’s all about the Carolinas — their coast, their mountains, their more temperate climate and — most importantly — their affordable cost of living, say the moving pros at PODS, who’ve analyzed heaps of customer data to identify the latest trends.

If true, that shows a considerable reversal in just one year. In 2023, Florida practically owned the list of most moved-to cities, with six in the Top 20 and five in the Top 10.

From November 1st to March 31st Florida is wonderful. For the rest of the year it's an unbearable steambath. For that reason I could never declare it to be my “home”.

Just wondering there was a company in our city that was bought out and moved to Jacksonville. Employees who moved there quit their jobs and came back home.

So what’s going on there that makes people leave?

Carolinas were the landing place 50 years ago.
Then that dried up.
Now its back, bout in other parts of the states

Florida goes in waves.
Groovy until the Big One hits again.
Now it’s over priced.

Lots of YouTube content Creators have picked Tennessee because of the low taxes.
Pool’s in WV. Derrick’s in TN

And the local people feel like they are being invaded.

The War of Northern Aggression continues.

Jacksonville

It’s an immense Ghetto, with Gangbanger I95 access to boot.

*From November 1st to March 31st Florida is wonderful.*
Mid Oct. to mid-April will be good for 6 months-taxes.

Spring-pick your beautiful oasis.
Summer-Riga, Estonia. 70 degrees.
Sept.-Oct. New England-perfect.

If you have the IRA/RMD money.
Life is good.

North Carolina- The Halfback State

New Yorkers move to Florida. When they return they only make it halfway back.

North Carolina is already a politically marginal state.

South Carolina is eventually going to be the next one to fit that description, going the way of Georgia (from supposedly solid “red” to solid purple — and then worse). Articles like this one confirm it. Still, when the time comes that SC beings to flip, people will be wondering “wuh hoppened???”

The massive influx of northern liberals to South Carolina is what happened. Charleston has been heading left — HARD left, lately — for a while for that exact reason and its surrounding areas (Berkeley County and Beaufort County) are beginning to deteriorate too.

Farther north, Myrtle Beach is and has been a white-hot spot for invaders; it’s a fine area for now, but it is growing out of control thanks to those invaders. When something grows rapidly out of control inside a body, it’s called “cancer”. This invasion is going to have a cancerous effect on Myrtle Beach sooner rather than later, and on the state as a whole at some point too; Greenville/Spartanburg are not immune either, as anyone who lives there will tell you.

Unlike Georgia, SC currently lacks a focal point for vote fraud and other evils; it has nothing remotely on the scale of Atlanta. But, like Georgia, it has a very squishy RINO-controlled state legislature — not conservative at all — and that’s not going to help matters which the shit starts to really stink.

If you think that South Carolina is always going to be a pristine paradise and forevermore solid Republican, then be sure to bookmark this post and reread it in a few years. North Carolina has hung in there for a while, precariously, and South Carolina may too. But demographics are working hard (even if not always dramatically) against Republicans, and demographics never lose in the end.

Well freaking great. There go my retirement plans. Now everyone under the sun will be flooding the coastline. House prices are going to be sky high plus a new property tax thanks to all the NY and NJ people trying to make it like “home”.

In order to avoid the Californians and Noreasters, you’ll have to move to some place bleak with bad weather year round. Nevada would’ve been okay but then Vegas got filled up with blue staters. North Dakota might work, but then they have Fargo. It’s always at least one big city that ruins it for all the sane rural folks.

Florida insurance rates are out of control which makes owning a home there less affordable.
